Actually, disassembling wasn’t as bad as I thought. I’ve gotten it all the way down to this metal part over the windings (you can see them through the gaps). I removed the screws holding the metal part to the black plastic part as well as the nut holding the motor on the axle – it slides freely and I could totally remove it if I disconnected the phase wires. Question is – does anyone know how I remove that metal cover to count the poles (can’t quite see them in the gaps)? Can I gently wedge something between the black plastic part and the metal cover and pop it off, or do I have to take the whole thing off the axle?

A guess here, but I think you want to remove the back plate (I.e. the plate closest to the king pin)
where do you go the clones from?
