All I found is in my (updated) post above
Where are people buying E-lofty’s/DD’s from these days? Im in the U.K and dont want to get Torqueboards…
cheers man, though boundmotor are out of stock and Revel charge a fortune for shipping, unless youre in the U.S. I Wonder if there are any trusted Ali Express sellers
I don’t know how much shipping to you is but I have new Boundmotor DDs that I just never used
im in the U.K. are they on DKP?
I’m not familiar with DD spec info - how do these apparently ‘new’ (2022) DD’s look? - 2022 New Swapable Pu Direct Drive Electric Skateboard Outboard 1200w Dc Hub Motor - Buy Outboard Dc Motor,Skateboard Hub Motor,Direct Drive Motor Product on Alibaba.com
Yes they’re on DKP
Can anyone help me ID these DD motors? My telemetry is off compared to GPS (my other boards are pretty consistent with GPS), and checking the FSESC shows the motors were configured with 18 poles. That seems like a lot. Does the motor pole number matter for anything but speed / distance values, ie, if I change it to something else, it doesn’t affect anything but the speed / distance calculations? I’d also like to verify the motor settings.
Also I’m trying to print some wheel adapters for this thing and would ideally like to get the official measurements so I can make some, or find someone else who’s made adapters (Trampa wheels to be specific).
Where did you buy them? They look like onsra dd’s or the old mboards dd’s. Direct drives usually have a higher pole count. I think tbdd has 28 poles.
Are you running 4wd?
They’re the motors on a Tranzite Roadster, 4WD config.
The pole count affects the max rpm and telemetry afaik. Wheel size will also affect telemetry though. I tried searching but couldn’t find info on the pole count for these motors. I’d email tranzite or you could open them up and count the magnets.
How far off is the telemetry speed? A common error is inputting poles rather than pole pairs and vice versa. So if the speed is reading close to half or double your actual speed that’s probably it.
It’s always between 4 - 6 MPH off, enough that Yours Truly doesn’t consider the speeds and distances “confirmed” - the delta becomes too big on anything over a short ride. I have asked the Tranzite dude which motors he sourced and he was somewhat cagey about it, so I didn’t push. Maybe it’s a very small run of custom motors? Leaves me in a weird state though, because I have a big black box and can’t do much in the way of adjusting parameters like I can with my other boards.
I’d consider opening it up as Anthony suggested
I’m a little wary of disassembling a DD motor; once you get to the actual motor enclosure it starts getting a little dicey, at least for someone who’s not the most mechanically-inclined type like me
You can change the pole count and it still should work. The easiest way to find out the pole count is to slowly do one full rotation on the motor by hand and count each place where you feel it cogging. The result must be an even number, and most likely it is not divisible by 3
That’s a great suggestion. A preliminary / rough run through showed about 24 poles - probably a few more. That would make sense (I think) in that a lower number configured would have my numbers inflated. Will do a more thorough count later today.
Can use a magnet to mark where you started
