After much tinkering and a pile of printed test cases I realized I was favouring something very close to DougM’s case, so after playing with that for a bit, I made something with a few bits of Doug and a few bits of Bruce, maybe I should call it Chaz.

I actually totally redrew it from the reference of the other designs.

The files people share (STLs) are not easy to modify without breaking the integrity of the model, so they work as reference, and you could add bits to them, but to do a proper job, you have to model it yourself

you didnt see the step files?
iirc most people who were in the contest provided both step and stl files

He never actually posted the STEP files, although offered to share if needed.

Honestly, I drew it as I was making my own design, so I wouldn’t have been happy with just copying, it all started because I wanted a pinky-grip, several design iterations later, I realized I was tending to something ‘like’ his, so I printed it.

I’d like to thank both DougM and DRI for their designs as the information helped me make my own one. I’ve pulled inspiration (and sometimes even measurements) from both of their designs and added a few ideas of my own too.

I found quite a few remotes are hard to reposition, so if they slip out of your grip while holding the throttle, they can be hard to realign without a second hand or slowing down. So the intention of this design was to be easy to hold and grip with a few fingers, meaning it is simple to re-align and shuffle it around in your palm.

I was pretty disappointed that my “buy first read later policy” got me a roll of Transparent Red this morning. It isn’t a catastrophe, but all the LEDs just look red now.

The grip feels nice, and it’s easy to handle. If anyone’s up for printing and trying it, I’m open to input/variations while the books still open. Preferably before I magpie myself into the next project.

Good ol Aaron that design is like 2 years old.
He was talking about redesigning it

@r32tech <not sure if that’s his username off the top of my head here

Question for the designer, what is the hole at the bottom of the top piece for?
