All Eboarders should have faster rides for sanity.

My point is, dont let Eboarding be your feeling of performance. I have an R1 as well, so achieving high speeds on my eboard is moot. That is a good thing. I ride my board as a way of transporting. I use sidewalks and roads. And always, I am rewarded for going slow. Something jumps out, and I am praising myself for being slow. There are a great many other benefits to my go slow plan.

I got nothing against speed runs here and there. But maintaining high speeds, as a general rule, will get you.

I got DOORED a week ago. My crawling speed, saved me from terrible harm. I came real close to breaking my elbow. But fell well enough, slapping both my hands, and left elbow simultaneously allowed me to ONLY suffer pain, not much damage. But I always say to myself, it could have been so much worse. And what makes everything worse on an Eboard, is speed.

I guess I am asking, you guys arent always going 30 ish or more, right? That would be crazy. Me, I am about ten to 18 mph. And five in tricky urban sidewalk action. Forgot to mention, I am old. 62 on a board for major transpo. Ebike for further. etc.

Point is, take it from a guy that has hyperbike and sportscar etc, slower is better. Slower on the board has likely saved my life.

I know going slow isnt very masculine, but when you are broken, or repairing, you are not riding.

So I must enjoy driving fast in a car ? Where I can kill other people ?
But not on my eskate where most of the danger is on myself?

I don’t ride fast compared to most, but when coming back from my injury, I definitely took it even easier. Got to build up confidence and put that stack in the rearview mirror.

I think he was trying to say that if he feels the need for speed, he can get that from his sportbike.

30mph is my happy speed. Fast enough to be exciting, slow enough to likely avoid serious injury when I eat shit.

Imo eBoard is for fun, car or any motorized vehicle is for transport.

So I don’t really get it

Doesnt thirty feel slow in short order?

I keep my sanity by going out for mad zoomies … faster is where the excitement is. You dont make a lightning powered murder board to be “SAFE”. Im also old ish 43 … but Fast AF boy

No, not really. 35 always feels fast as fuck to me.

Fear boners is the name of the game. We all get them in different ways.

I get the sentiment and yeah you’ll be much safer riding slowly. And you should definitely ride slowly around others.

But end of the day to each their own as long as you’re attempting to be safe. Faster on a board is also going to feel much different than in a car or on a bike.

I can hear Brian scolding already.

How dare you! I’m 43 years YOUNG! :joy: Damn, just realized that I’ve been on these forums for almost 8 years :flushed:

Unlike you, I generally stay in the mid 20s mph normally, only do spurts of high 30s when I know the road is smooth and no cars are around. 20 years ago I would’ve just pegged the throttle. Age is weird.

I was rear ended going 0-3 mph by a car. fuken cellphone distraction

Everyone got different use cases. For some people they are toys for others its last stop transport and it can also be peoples only form transport. Not everyone use them exactly the same way and thats cool.

Efff. I seriously hate riding around cars, there are too many terrible drivers out there.

There are some people with big cojones, but the answer to your question is mostly no

On pavement, I cruise around 30-32, and on gravel, around 20. Personally, i’m only cruising above 30 if it’s safe, as in, theres nobody around. Otherwise i’m going around 25, less if im in nyc. I practically live in the cornfields. small town in rural NY. Fly down local roads with speed limits typically in excess of 40mph, and pull over to let cars pass.

@sk8tedad is consistently flying in the 40s, which is faster than i’ve ever gone as my board currently doesnt go over 38. Some like @PedroMcJimenez and @whaddys cruise around 35 too. It’s all about risk tolerance. People with little to lose and big cojones go fast, others dont.

Riding is riding, do whatever is fun. Slow and relaxed is often fun too, especially if the route is scenic.

Sarcasm didnt come through, oops. Gotta fix that

I disagree. I don’t own a motorbike but I’ve ridden them. I’d much rather fuck up at 25 mph and eat shit on my esk8, than fuck up at 50 and eat shit on a motorbike.
I don’t care about speed, I care about the feeling of speed. My skateboard feels faster than a motorbike, so I can feel like I’m flying even at normal speeds.
