Idk man, there’s a Japanese game show where random objects might be made out of chocolate. Usually it’s always the coffee table.

Interesting…

firmware update is easy~peasy
A quick test shows it works as intended for remote SOC
only niggle I can see is you have to turn on board and remote to get remote SOC… It’d be more functional… IMHO to just flip on the remote and get the battery SOC without having the board powered up…

@JJHoyt, is there a minimal firmware version requirement for getting into that “flashing LEDs state”? It doesn’t seem to be working with my remote (purchased August 2019). Also, do you enter that state while the remote is off or do you need to turn it on first? (I tried both and none worked.)

remote has to be on…
AND
the board has to be on for the “flashing LEDs state” to work…

So I kept trying again until I found out I was pressing the trim-up instead of trim-down all the time. :man_facepalming: After correcting this silly mistake, I can get the flashing LEDs with no problem at all, but ONLY IF THE REMOTE IS OFF. If I turn it on, it’s no longer possible to enter this state.

This may potentially vary depending on the FW version installed. Mine is 1.0.7. Updating right now…

aaaand, it worked! Yay!

Oh, BTW, now (at v3.0.0) I can enter the flashing LEDs even from the on state but only if the remote has a connection with the receiver as you mentioned.

So it seems that it always works in the OFF state and it may work in the ON+CONNECTED state depending on the current FW version.

Anyway, finally! I’ve been missing the SoC indication really bad.

BTW, here’s an excerpt from my email to Jeff from September last year:

I noticed that when the remote is disabled with the double-tap on the power button, all the LEDs turn blue. How about changing the color according to the state of charge? For example, blue for 100-80%, green 80-60, yellow 60-40, orange 40-20, red 20-0. Sounds like a few lines of code for adding a very useful feature.

They haven’t done it exactly according to my specs but it’s close enough. You’re welcome guys. :kissing_heart:

(BTW, I don’t care if somebody else has made the same proposal earlier. I still take the credit! :hugs:)

Nope. Can you video yourself going through the motions and email it to hoytskate@hoytskate.com so we can see where the problem might be?
