Tried ordering, you got a great price, my total was over $830, international shipping on the deck and battery is high

@torqueboards Did you really just steal this deck from hummie?

This is the same mold, same cut, but it looks like to omitted the inner carbon layer, which explains partly why your having issues with them snapping. You painted it black instead of stained wood also.

I get that these are public molds, anyone can use them. But you did nothing original with it. You basically saw someone make a good product, and copied it to a tee, tweaked it to make it cheaper to make, and then proceeded to sell it as if it were your own design.

That’s scummy shit man. It’s not illegal, but it is immoral. I thought better of you than this… Hummie did not give you permission to sell these.

@evoheyax Before you make your claims. You should check your facts. I like Hummie and the goal was never to do any harm to him.

But the shape and size of the deck doesn’t get anymore basic. It’s practically you’re basic drop deck with an internal cavity. My designs have been copied as well but I don’t complain about it to the internet.

  • Not the same company or same cut. I don’t have a Hummie Deck and have never seen one in person.
  • Our prototypes snapped because we were testing decks of and different internal structures (ply/composites) and sizing to figure out exactly what we wanted and not because of anything else.
  • We choose a black edge so it fits our stealth theme.

The price for this deck will increase and it won’t be sold as a deck separately in the near future. So this does not affect Hummie in anyway shape or form.

Even if his deck came from Aca it doesn’t really matter does it? If John wanted this to be exclusive he would have paid for a mold in the US and done it right.

Dex isn’t a saint by any means but this is like telling someone they can’t buy a product from Amazon because you bought it first. It’s public and for sale, end of discussion.

Perhaps a shape change would have been nice though Dex

@Brenternet It did not come from Aca. I wanted to change it but I wanted maximum width.

Wait Dexter these won’t be for sale separately later on? How would we buy them then? Only with enclosures or only in completes?

@DEEIF They will not be, no. Yeah, one of the other. Haven’t decided yet.

Dexter is going full Jason Potter boomer on us.

Get ready for the fall from grace. I have my popcorn prepped, don’t let me down dude!

Dang it, was hoping these could be a great option to pick up later on, but if it’s paired with an enclosure then that’s even better :call_me_hand:t3:

Even if they didn’t come from aca, they look identical man. I have a lot of respect for what you’ve done to this industry. I think the influence is clear here though.

Carbon layer on top
Center cut hole
Same basic shape

Again, you could go to aca now and have them make the same deck for you. It’s not illegal. But there’s tons of molds out there, pick something slightly different at least.

Imagine if after all of your work on those DD motors, I came along and made a direct drive motor that looks the same, assembled the same way, and wound the same way. You wouldn’t feel bitter about it?

I just think out of respect for each, vendors shouldn’t release a product that is effectively the same as that someone else is selling, unless said product is open sourced like the VESC.

Fits the enclosures made for the Hummie deck absolutely perfectly
Has the same mold divots in the bottom
Suffers from the same poor final coat milkiness (Which I’m sure Dex will sort)

Hard to tell the difference tbh, still ok though. It’s a catalogue product for sale to the public.

Again, legally it’s ok. He can do what he wants. If this did come from aca, it’s shitty in that John spent a lot of money on protypes to get that milled curve correct.

Just morally, we shouldn’t copy each others designs.

John did 2 runs and then failed to produce more. If there had been loads of hummie decks around there would be no market for this one.

The best way to fend off the competition is to be consistent

Does he need Hummies permission to sell a deck built from a different mold?

You are barking up the wrong tree here dude.

I’ve seen the models/protos, it’s wider than aca would/could do because it’s changed to flair out wider at the foot pedals (making overall width greater). We’ve got protos in hand too as we’re testing them. I’ll pull up the build thread.

Still so sure it’s the exact same mold?

Personally I’m super glad to be able to get a low cost deck with ready to mount enclosure combo.

I mean, yes? What am I looking at here that’s different exactly? The Aca mold continues to flare up as well the wider you go.

It’s a generic Shenzhen mold however, I’m sure loads of deck factories have it.

So have people got their decks yet…?
