3D Printing Discussions, Questions and Debugging

I have to say, I love 3d printing, but I have been wasting SO. MUCH. TIME. on multiple iterations of a few relatively simple parts the past few days lol

I’m attempting to convert a small generator to propane (one old and small enough that conversion kits aren’t readily available), and trying to design and fit the orifice plate into an already jam-packed assembly so it can be dual-fuel is just an extra layer of masochistic delight.

SUCCESS! It fit! and it runs!

Any tips for remixing thingies? I found a mounting for the v6 with bmg that I really like the design of except I would like to remix the ducts for dual blowers instead of a single.

I opened the stl in fusion and converted the mesh, man so many triangles lol.

I haven’t gotten the hang of remixing meshes. Usually what I do is import the stl into Fusion, convert the mesh to brep, then essentially trace the parts of it you wanna keep. Basically recreate the part by tracing, then start modifying from there.

If it’s a simple mod, use tinkercad. It plays nice with stl. Complex – try to get the cad file.

The only disadvantage is thats its 3mm instead of 1.75mm

Do you find that orientation of the bridges and overhangs are better relative to the orientation of the print?

Is it better to be cooling with the parallel of the bridge or perpendicular with the bridge cooling ducts on both sides?

We need to print you some nicer fan ducts dude… :wink:

I know! I keep printing and haven’t re-printed ducts :joy::joy::joy:

This is probably better as it flows around the bridge, but I should run some actual tests!

@Alpacaslapper and @xsynatic how’s the print quality these days? dialed in or still having trouble?

So far so good. After changing out the top of the buildplate, completely redoing bed leveling and using that one video for supports, everything looks very nice.

Supports just need a tiny bit of prying and they pop right off, that video was pure gold.

Mine are hit or miss. I’ve been on family vacation the last week so I haven’t printed anything since the group of battery holders. I’m itching to get back to it.
Currently working on remixing a design for a direct drive using bmg and v6 clone from trianglelab for dual 5015 when I get a few minutes rest on this trip.

Is it dumb that I want the dragon hot end just cause it looks cool even though I’ll never see it? Lol

@Venom121212 or other people…

Do you mind emailing me your cura settings for pla and petg?

Honestly dude watch videos and experiment…

Even running the same printer and everything settings can vary.

I just need help on the supports :joy:

I have everything down except wherever I pull the supports/raft off it’s looks like a mess (still adhered to the print but ugly af compared to the rest of it)
