youāll note in these two examples, wattage is 4k/side. if primary were showing stats for both then one side should be 8k, and the other 4k no?
also the two sides distances are just off by the gear ratio difference that was misconfigured. 2797/4.33*14.33 = 9256.584 so the distance stat also isnāt reported for both sides by a āprimaryā
so i donāt think this example shows a primary showing data for both sides.
but i do find this confusing:
so i feel like there must be some way vesc_tool reports for multiple ESCs combined.
The side with the Bluetooth module, only that side will be populated with gear ratio etc. after detection.
For me it always shows total board power, not per side.
Highest Iāve seen is 5500w, and thereās no way Iām doing double that on a 12s board with constantly overheating motors
Iāve got vesc tool app screenshots from after racing Ankle Wreacher, and all four esc report a max power of 8~9kW, but each of the exact reported powers are different by a few hundred Watts.
If it was reporting the total of all four VESCās shouldnāt these numbers be the same?
But I also donāt think I was pulling 32kWā¦
So i received the board with the ESCs temporarily mounted with dual lock velcro and a strap rear around the foot stop. I told myself once i got it going iād come back and mount it with bolts. I kept kicking the strap off so from the very beginning of this thread iāve been running without it. and everything was āfineā
then promptly forgot to get back to mounting things with bolts.
until. i took this thing up the dam wall. and⦠had to coast down. dragging some clanky metal. behind me.
This took a crap load of getting used to. I almost threw myself off a few times coming out of a corner and reengaging the throttle. definitely had some muscle memory. also the castle deadband must be closer to 15% as well.
switching
my first bunch of laps got me dialed in on v5#1 (vesc)
I actually then felt very uncomfortable switching back to v5#3 (castle) throwing my balance off in corners till i adapted again.
So⦠I really think Familiarity Bias is a huge thing when trying to compare these two things.
Dang Fess - you might just be pushing it mega hard and bumping up against the limits of using outrunners. I donāt ride like you guys so Iām not going to be helpful with testing here.
What kind of efficiency and temps do the 8s inrunner setups see?
Another interesting setup would be VESC paired with 8s battery and inrunners, although Iām not sure what VESC based ESC would push enough amps for your needs.
I could be wrong, but I donāt think The castle keeps an rpm counter. so canāt calc distance, canāt calc effeciency.
the castle 2028 motors were getting too hot and physically failing. though I never personally caught a measurement more than 85c with temp sensors or temp gun. ( 3 failures identified. wave washer getting crushed turning into shrapnel might be force not heat, melting phases, and ungluing stator from can. )
only myself @MarioChacon and @Mbrady getting them that hot.
The now larger hobywing 70125s iām using i havenāt managed to get above 50c. (external temp gun, temp sensors arenāt working)
could maybe get up to 12s with 10t/78T gearing and the 70125 hobbywing motors. and still be reasonable. (though i really wanted to leave those 10T gears behind they wear fast. )
Then a pair of go-foc 300s at 12s could deliver the watts? they might be able to do it at 8s even. which would help gearing.
Yeah for racing I donāt think I could go back. All those times you get on it a touch too early out of a corner and the front wheels pull the board around for you is just .
All the smaller inrunners I see are higher kv though.
