2026 Iron Foot ESK8 Challenge

Haha. I had the same build as I have now. Over time, I got rid of that board and now I’ve built it again. The only difference is that back then I had a slower 35A charger — now I have a 50A one.

How many charge stops and how long were they? I wonder what your average speed minus the charging was. You were on the road I’m guessing ? Empty with no traffic or intersections? Just send like EUC numbers to be insane

You can see a ride on the old board for example here:

It’s a bit of a boring video, but it gives you a good idea of how riding looks over here. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
I didn’t always charge from 0% to 100% — I charged whenever it made sense based on charging locations and how my legs felt. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: So I don’t really know how many stops there were. My range was around 120 km with this kind of riding.

Total time? I left Prague at 5:00 AM and arrived in Vienna at around 8:00 PM. After that, we rode around Vienna for a bit more, which is why the total distance was about 350 km. So overall it took 15 hours, with roughly 9 hours of actual riding time (not counting charging).

Yup. I couldn’t quite get smart reverse to be smooth for me. When I’d shorten the time it would become very sudden, and would only engage reverse at full brake position. Sometimes nearly launching me off if I wasn’t fully braced for the reverse to kick in. I messed with the settings but couldn’t find anything I liked. Found my self really struggling for finite movements in reverse. Bidirectional is so awesome playing around at stop lights or simply messing around in parking lots. I’m particularly excited to use bidirectional with thane or sr125 here soon.

This just makes me sad bc I’ll never be able to beat that

Riding more than 250 km teaches you new things. You don’t actually need a huge battery at all — what you really need is extremely fast charging. And therefore a battery that can handle it without overheating. And I’m saying this as someone who has done dozens of 100+ km rides.

By the way, one of the hardest things to figure out is shoes. Finding shoes that are still comfortable after 250 km is seriously challenging!

What have you landed on?

Also having the ability to ride switch is massive. The EUC guys had a similar challenge, but they lowered it to 16hrs, prob due to safety concern I think.

I still haven’t figured it out. :joy: I’d have to ride 300 km after every shoe purchase.

I didn’t have any problems with my legs at all. After arriving in Vienna, there was even a small party that I went to. During the ride it was around 30°C outside, and for example one of the complications was holding the remote after about 5 hours — my hand was sweating quite a lot, so I learned to switch the remote to my other hand.

Before I update my results I’d like to get feedback on how we calculate speed for distance challenges. Distance challenges are inherently longest distance wins, the way we calculate speed is purely for bragging rights and a secondary statistic. The Lead Thumb will use the Moving speed method.

We can use:

Average speed (total distance/ total elapsed time)

-This will include all stops

Or:

Moving speed (distance ÷ time actually rolling)

-will show true riding pace and less effected by charger size.

I prefer using moving speed method personally, any opposition?

I prefer moving speed

You should call this the Iron/lead ass category

Bumping this challenge — sharing two entries (or one combined ride) across two categories.

This wasn’t a dedicated record attempt — just summer training, and I noticed there aren’t many entries here yet. :slightly_smiling_face:

Today’s ride — 236.3 km → Tungsten Foot Award (24-hour distance challenge) https://cloud.voyagesystems.eu/r/UmSdM-O9pXy-35xAq/

First segment of the same ride, no stops — 123.3 km → Iron Foot Award https://cloud.voyagesystems.eu/r/UmSdM/ (hope the link stays valid — I’ve already merged it into the full record)

Results updated! I appreciate your participation.

I’ve had ongoing board issues, plan on putting down more miles in the name of this challenge soon.

Super impressive, is that 76 miles (123km) on a charge?!

Can’t wait for the next challenge when you beat that! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Hehe, yeah, the 76 miles were without charging and without stopping (not counting pee breaks and red lights). And yesterday had quite a strong headwind — I’ll push it even further in summer.

Weather is still wet and kinda cold here. Prob not gonna attempt any of these for another couple months.
