2026 AUS PEV Nationals

2026 AUS PEV Nationals

After the success of the 2025 Nationals hosted in Perth Western Australia, we have decided to take the event to the East coast of Australia, hosting it at one of the best looking kart clubs in the country - Coffs Harbour Kart Club, New South Wales.

Given the increased accessibility of the event in comparison to last year, we are anticipating a much higher attendance, from racers and spectators alike.

The tournament spans across 3 days, from Friday August 21st to Sunday the 23rd August, and utilises three track variations.

The schedule is a work in progress, but as it stands:
Friday
Racer Arrival & Setup
Sponsor Spotlight at noon (vendor tents/demo’s etc)
3.5 hours of qualifying on the medium track (in groups/waves)
Novice race heat 1 (medium track) 3 laps
Exhibition Races (spec race/production board battle, EUC ā€œfull tiltā€ race - full race track w/ 180m straight)

Saturday
Challenger & Pro Class Heat 1 (medium track)
Novice Heat 2 (medium track) 3 laps
Sponsor Spotlight at noon (vendor tents/demo’s etc)
Track varation changes to Long Track
Challenger & Pro class heat 2 (long track) 3 laps
More sponsor activations in the late afternoon (to be announced)*

Sunday
Track variation changes to short track
All classes race a Final 5 lap race on the short track
More Novelty/Exhibition racing and sponsor spotlights

Over the course of the 3 day event, we plan to also be simultaneously running a 2026 Nationals Grid Tournament in the large parking lot space next to the kart track. The idea is to connect riders from around the country and the world who can’t make it to the nationals, but can be a part of the nationals by joining in the grid challenge and appearing on the leaderboard across the weekend. We will also allocate some prizes for this ā€˜side-tournament’ too!

We will be introducing ā€œteam registrationsā€ this year, which will allow people to register as a group/team and have some customisation on their jersey, like a team logo/crest, and possibly a highlight colour for their team.

Registration will open in mid to late march and will be a limited release. Our socials will be the first place to get the news. On that note, I will try my best to update this thread with news and updates, but our social media will be the best place to receive the lastest: Instagram.com/auspev

Lastly, we are thrilled to hear that all of our previous sponsors from the 2025 nationals were pleased with their sponsorship and the relationships we have built with them. Some of them have already confirmed that they will be coming over to attend in person, and most of them have already committed to supporting our community in one way or another for the upcoming event.

As stoked as we are about this, we are really trying our best to take the event to the next level and need as much support as possible, so if you are a business looking to get involved, please reach out to me as we’d love to showcase your support for the sport we all love. We are really pushing for a proper live stream this year and would be proud to showcase an industry brand or two across the entire broadcast.

For those who aren’t aware, we are a non-profit organisation, donating all of our time (and often some of our money) into these events, and all forms of sponsorship are pushed right back into the community - either through prizes or paying for the various costs associated with each race event. We also host a bunch of beginner clinics, ā€œcome and tryā€ days as well as piggy-back off council events to showcase PEV’s to the wider Australian population. If you’re interested in our association and what we do, check us out at www.esra.org.au

Get this delivered to your place or just pick it up at Coffs?

That’s an expensive joke  i did actually think about getting a magnet for the giggles but not at that price!

I’d collect those that tradies put in mailboxes, assemble them into one big panel, paint it white, and scrawl ā€œFree Candyā€ on it…

…but I put a ā€œNo junk mailā€ label on my mailbox. The only ones who ignore the label are real estate agents and Clive Palmer’s peons.

@MBS you gonna be attending?

Apologies for not really keeping this thread updated at all. To be honest, every time I browsed esk8 news there seemed to be a bunch of negativity, so I just decided to stay off it for a while.

But with the event drawing near, I just wanted to share my thoughts on how crazy the expected top esk8 race group is actually going to be.

There are SO many variables thrown into the mix for this race event. Plenty of upgrades, plenty of riders in great form, but also plenty of uncertainties across almost all of the top racers attending.

We have @JeffyJ who’s levelled up massively here on the west coast with the @MoeStooge Big Wheel V6, claiming some track records and clearly looking very strong right now.

Dylan Bell, who took out our local series here, will now be racing a 4WD variant of @Tony_Stark Radium Mach 1.

@Tony_Stark himself has been in great form the last couple of times I’ve raced with him too, so we definitely can’t count him out either — especially if he’s also showing up on a 4WD!

Another dark horse on the Radium train is Adrian, who has been hitting some crazy speeds on the Mach One S over the past few weeks.

@sugandese has built and upgraded his absolute monster of a DIY and has been setting some great times over on the east coast.

Then there’s another DIY dark horse in Clayton, who took out the track record at Coffs Harbour on the practice day…

AND I’ve just had the good news that @Mbrady is able to join us after repairing his board following an unfortunate crash in practice only a week or two ago!

Across all of these racers — and especially myself — there are just so many unknowns heading into this race, which is exactly what makes it so damn exciting. It genuinely feels like it could be anyone’s game.

While some racers have openly shared their doubts, board issues and/or uncertainties with me, I don’t really feel like it’s my position to list them here, but I’ll openly share mine.

I’ve placed very little expectation on myself coming into this one with the Vector. I’ve probably had only 2–3 genuinely solid sessions on it without some sort of teething issues, and I’m now working with roughly twice the power of my previous race board, with a fraction of the experience. So there’s still a lot I’m learning.

Nevertheless, I’m going to give it everything I’ve got and try as hard as possible to keep up with these legends.

Because ultimately, it’s only at major events like these that the best riders from around the country (and sometimes the world) actually get to come together, push each other, race hard and have some fun.

Cannot wait.

Yeah it’s definitely going to be an interesting one!!! I feel like it’s really anyone’s to take. There’s just so much that can happen in a race and everything needs to come together to take out a win, and even more needs to come together to take out an event.

All the West coast riders (except for yourself wink, wink) have sent their boards across on road freight due to batteries. So they will all be coming in a little rusty. The home state and QLD crew have slight upper hand, but it’s only fair as the opposite was true last year.

Morgan Brady was definitely heavy favourite but he’s had some major issues to deal with lately that has thrown a spanner in the works for him! I’m sure he’s still going to be a force even with his issues.

Really hoping for some good weather and some close competition! Can’t wait! Not long now!!!

It’s going to be a wild one. Dylan and I will have basically zero experience on our new setups.

And we’ll be dialing in and testing the 4wd on the track with about 5 million tuning parameters with 4 way RTS and electronic differentials all programmed last night

Still having some wheel issues and concerns with the new batch of Exway/CST tyres so we’ll probably be switching tyres around as well.

If anyone is available for the Radium pit crew we are looking for volunteers!

Can’t wait for this one. So stoked to hear that Morgan is able to make it too!!

that setup looks nice and clean! sounds like a few of us will be entering unchartered territory for this race. all in the name of racing innovation i guess

absolutely. I think if i put my board on that pallet at that point, with the experience i had at that time, there’s a fair chance i wouldn’t have raced on it. so I’m super grateful Dylan could fit my board on his car.

QLD crew have definitely been turning up the practice over the past few weeks. it will be interesting to see if all that short track practice helps them on the big track!

Agree, Morgan is definitely still going to be a heavy favourite despite the recent setbacks.

Keep thinking sunny thoughts and doing anti-rain dances

I was amazed by this Mach One, with the ESC in the middle, Linnpower style, high level. Will this race be broadcast live on any channel? I also didn’t know that the new batch of Exway tires had some problem!

Soooo i’ve had a bit of a mixed bag roadtrip so far!

Pros:

  • Have had some awesome skates
  • Weather has been great
  • Took the coastal route and have stopped at some beautiful places along the way

Cons:

  • Van started having issues about 500km in to the 1800km+ journey, still driveable, but have needed to nurse it and drive it a very specific way to avoid triggering faults
  • I ended up driving another 7-800kms in order to get a fault code reader to determine what the problem was exactly.. it was pretty stressful not knowing for sure what the fault was
  • The only suitable mechanic i can find with availability to look at the van tomorrow is 30kms north of the kart club.

I MUST get the van looked at tomorrow so I know what i’m up against if it needs replacement parts.

If the AI is correct (which it seems to have been really accurate with pretty much all of my van queries), best case scenario is it just needs a little pull the turbo apart, lube up some bits and put it back together again… apparently should only take a couple of hours. This would be ideal. Worst case scenario is it needs a new turbo.

Soooo it seems like i’m probably gonna miss at least most of day one being stuck in Woolgoolga waiting for van. If it was just me, i’d skate the 30kms down to the event, charge there and skate back when the van is ready. But i have the doggo with me and her little legs aren’t up for a 30km run

Will see what mechanic reckons in the morning. Hopefully its just a couple of hours and i’m back on the road.

Edit: omg, uber has a pet option. This could be the go!

Edit 2: strictly no dogs at the track :person_facepalming: hopefully see y’all on Saturday!
