Why are there so many tracks and race events on the west coast and absolutely none on the east coast. You’d think it was banned over here, fuck.
We just need someone with the balls to organize it lol
By balls you mean insurance money and free time?
Cheap land? Honestly might be San Francisco and such… Young people with lots of money
Something like that yeah
SPEC racing defiantly is the future for competitive racing
I guess. I watch these race videos and all I see is an infinite empty expanse of dirt. We dont have that on the east coast.
If we ever have races here they will have to be the tresspassing in some parking lot kind.
EDIT: Also doesnt help how pretentious the NYC guys are. The only spots that would work nearby are in New Jersey. You cannot ask someone from NYC to come into NJ without hearing some bullshit they have to tell themselves to justify their massive rent and smelly city.
sounds about right. They practically race around central park and wonder why they always get injured when they have to brake super hard when there are idiots jaywalking while staring down on their phones
Im personally trying to get track and Uphill/Downhill races started for us in the east coast since majority of riders over here are boring, low experienced carvers not looking to have some real fun lol. Just a pain lookin for locations and such. In a perfect world if some one in DC,Maryland (my state) and NYC could own or rent a big warehouse that we can convert into a personal indoor racetrack that would be perfect then all we would need to do is find at least 2 nicely paved 3 to 5 mile hills again in each of those three states to host outdoor up and downhill races. That way for track racing we have personal locations we can host races in and ppl can come and charge and practice of course as well as having the hill races for some more advanced and difficult riding that’ll test ppls builds to the limit.
Spec racing has always existed in motorsport. Ultimately spec classes become the most expensive to run, because the R&D to gain a competitive advantage has a lower ROI. Gaining a half second on a competitor in spec racing is very expensive on a hardware level.
A good example would be spec miata racing. A class originally designed in the rule book to cost under 10k to be competitive. You can run in the front if you spend 30-40k on a “spec” car these days and about 80k per season on tires/parts/support. That would qualify you for the national championships where you’ll compete against people spending double that. Completely defeats the purpose of a cheap entry level class when you can run a Corvette for a season cheaper than a miata. This is true in every spec class of every level of racing. Look at R/C racing forums if you want to see this on a smaller scale what ESK8 racing is in for on a electronics/motor development front.
Competing in a unlimited class has always been my preference because ultimately the machines become overpowered and the drivers/riders really make all the difference!
Yeah but in these early stages, there seems to be a big power difference in what you can buy vs DIY. People are not even drafting yet, I really wanna see some race footage of the stooge guys in the race and see how many times they are overtaking each other. Or is it at the point of who ever has the best start @MoeStooge
Dude just get some cones and set up into to speed events on your local fb page. Been getting 4-10 ppl https://www.instagram.com/p/CPlZRgNByC7/?utm_medium=copy_link
i mean i can but its not the same
how can we regulate speed in a spec class? is there something we can use in tech inspection to verify speed?
@YaThatAintRight summed up spec racing pretty well.
There is definitely a place for spec racing but it takes a thick rulebook and really good Tech inspection to keep the spirit of it.
I remember someone telling me about a class of racing where your car had to be worth less thank $4k
And the simple way they enforced it was, by participating you also made your car available for sale at the end of the race for $4k.
