1st time doing vesc stormcore

ask them for the model of the bms, they don’t design their own bms, they outsource it, so its very likely they also don’t know anything about it and just go with “per cell amp x p group = total cont. amp” law

to sustain a 96a max cont. via discharge bms, u need a bms as big as a modern size GPU, with one or two high static pressure fans. that thin fully enclosed pack won’t even sustain 70a for more than a mintue or two

here is an example of a Daly discharge bms, they r fking huge humongous

Is that due to the cells? Why do I never see these fans? I’ve never heard of this before is this the same for a mollicells?

That’s the pack pretty much. Cept the eovan logo lol

They are Panasonic 21700 cells.

Panasonic makes a few different 21700 cells

what?

because ur pack doesn’t use a bms that can sustain 96a continuous current

bms is not a cell, and molicel is only just one of the many brands that makes battery cells

Yes there is 48. Where did you get tge pack from?

I wouldnt trust eovan with vesc settings. The settings they use are wack. Boundmotor sells the same pack with the same cells as eovan. Message them on there website. Ask them if they can send you the vesc settings for their 12s4p panasonic battery. I used the same pack in a build and thats what i did.

Lol forgot the settings I take it?

Yea i had them saved on my laptop but it got factory reset. I think part of the reason eovan had so many failing escs was their vesc setting where insane.

From the eovan website directly

It may be but just hit up boundmotor they will send you a screenshot of their vesc setting for that pack.

I just emailed them, this was on their page for the pack

I used the same cells numerous times, I’ve already mentioned my recommended settings.

AFAIK, any “Panasonic” 21700 we can get our hands on now has, at most, a 15A datasheet rating and is most likely 10A or so. Since all of the ultra-high capacity cells have huge voltage sag when run near their ratings I recommend running your cells at 5A-7A max each.

For a 4P pack that is 20A-28A. If you don’t mind the voltage sag, reduced range, and reduced cell life you could probably run them as high as 60A for short bursts.

I want to make sure I understand your point about BMS. I don’t build batteries but I do buy them from DIY’ers. So if you ask for BMS that is for charge only, then the discharge is bypassed and you can use the higher charge max and avoid the sag at higher speeds, correct?

No, sag is a result of the battery not being able to perform. Having an under specced BMS can cut off current if you overdraw, which can break your esc and throw you off of the board.

On their site it said 96 so did the person I emailed prior, I emailed last night and another person is now saying 60 is the recommended cont. Current. Kinda lame considering their website gives the impression 96 is totally fine

So I should only be discharging 14 Amps a motor? That’s ridiculously low for their description of it.

This what they said, the bms is rated for 80 and blah blah
