I’ll try this route after the other 2 routes. The most energy efficient way would be to do what @iamasalmon said
This should be the most efficient method, no?

you still need a driver, but yeah
without a driver the LEDs will pull as much current as they can and burn out
4x12v led in series + Meanwell LDD will be the most efficient route
My rule is that I don’t buy things until I know I can use it properly. I gotta figure out how to control this before I buy it.
Whats the default level when only using on/off?
whatever current the model is rated for
Ah, so it defaults at 100% brightness?
yep
10cha
it needs 100-1khz switching freq, that knob is 10khz, not sure it would work
You sure they didn’t mean 100khz-1khz?
Look on Digikey they are a electronic distribution company here in the midwest, have everything under the sun. Might have what you need they have great customer service.
Now I’m wondering if this knob could be used instead of the meanwell. So many ways to light up a board I love it.
Great idea, I will check them out
I believe you can call customer service and tell them what you need and they can find it for you.
Instead of using a converter, could you pull 12v directly from the battery by hard-wiring to a subset of 4 cells in series? I’m in a similar situation and can’t fit a converter in my board.
I know this would cause an uneven draw on the cells, but a good BMS should keep everything balanced, right?
Assuming you have 12s pack, and you divide it into 3 subsets of 4s, and every subsets is respectively connected to equal loads, then you’re good.
Usin just one subset is a bad idea imo cuz most bms’ balancing current is pretty small. Might take days of sittin idle for the bms to balance the entire pack. Adding active balancer would keep the pack balanced but that’s another can of worms.
There’s no way to connect all 3 subsets of 4s to the same load, right? That would cause a short?
This topic might end in flames.
Subbed.
this is a bad idea imo. Bucks are cheap and sometimes small
