I don’t have an action cam/gopro but I did take a couple pics this morning:
It’s pretty brown because Texas but it’s still very pleasant to ride through.
Better than concrete jungle for sure!
Question for you guys, you think I’d be able to fit 7" on here? I worry about the clearance specifically on the front truck.
Not opposed to shaving off a bit of the deck of necessary but would like to avoid that if possible.
Also is it normal for the BN adjustable baseplates have a little back and forward play? If I move the truck by hand there is a little wiggle room. Not sure if that affects anything in actual riding tho.
Assuming those are 6” tires, I think you could fit 7” / 175mm tires on there.
Got a couple updates for this one.
First, I have finally decided on a name. Going to keep going with the tarot card theme:
XX: JUDGEMENT
Upright: Judgement, rebirth, inner calling, absolution
Reverse: Self doubt, ignoring the call
Figured these were good themes for the build, specifically rebirth due to basically all parts being replaced and self doubt because this was my first build and there were definitely a lot of doubts along the way.
Second, I’ve changed a couple of things about the build.
Finally got in some 7" Sunmates and put them on. They just barely have clearance with the deck without wheelbite but I’ll take it.
Really liking them so far aside from getting some wobbles when I first tried them out. Started wobbling around ~23 mph. Not sure if this is a skill issue or if my bushing setup just isn’t optimal. Setup is currently 50/30 barrel/barrel front and barrel/chubby rear. All riptide APS 87.5a.
Needed to change up some settings due to accel and braking taking a hit with the larger tire size. Upped my motor amps and regen to +/-80A per side and regen from -6A to -15A per side. Honestly still feel like they are a bit lacking. I think this may be due to my 15:47(3.13) ratio, thinking I may want to see if I can find a bigger pulley. Hubs are evolve so new pulleys would be about $60 + shipping and at that point I may as well just buy rockstars and use the pulleys that I already have for those. Think it might actually be cheaper that way.
Couple questions:
My setup is a 10S3P 40T battery, ESC is Stormcore 60D+, and motors are flipsky 6368, what’s the max motor/battery amps that I could push through this thing? I think I’m most likely going to stick at 30A/side for battery but I wasn’t sure about motor. Have heard people saying the Stormcore can push 100A/side fairly reliably but my motors say that they are only rated for 75A, not sure if it is normal to push past that. Also I have it set to -15A regen for braking but that feels a bit weak at the moment. I want braking to be stronger but I def don’t want to push things too far.
Has anyone else experienced creaking with the BN baseplates? Here is a vid:
Not sure what could be causing it, maybe rubbing in the baseplate? I picked the board up and manually moved the truck and it didn’t happen so idk.
a Judge? no I think you need a Chiropractor

oh the TB deck protector I forgot about tricked me.
Yes this is forsure a problem. Cranking down the M5 like your life depends on it is sketchy. I have heard of attempts to shim the two parts.
Yes. @EDness has.
Thats pretty soft but if you’re lighter that should be fine
I would do 80 motor amps/35 battery amps per side. I run a super similar setup on a unity with a 12s3p p42a and I run 80 motor/35 battery all day
Doing a deck, battery, and possibly ESC swap on this one! I like the TB40 but it is a bit chunky and I absolutely could not pass up this HAYA because it is absolutely beautiful:
The deck came with a 12S4P P42A battery and a unity, so at the very least the battery is going to be quite the upgrade in both range and power. Not sure if I am going to go with the Unity or stick with the Stormcore, the unity would be much easier to fit so I’m most likely gonna do the swap. At what point are we considering things an entirely new build . I’m considering my first build to be continuously evolving at this point, I can never settle on things and instead of making another build I just end up swapping the parts all around. As long as I have something from the previous iteration, it’s still the same build!
After looking at the internals I’m gonna spend some time tidying things up a little bit. It came with a gx16 charge port and stormcore power button that were mounted in the risers. I like this setup but I got some Weipu SF-12 connectors at the recommendation of @Evwan and like them sooo much more than any of the gx series. Gonna make some 3D printed risers that can accommodate the Weipu and might redo the stormcore riser as well in the meantime. I think it might juuuust barely fit the weipu but I would rather make something custom.
That’s all for now but will update as more things come together!
Deck looks good. Laser cut the grip tape? I usually just get a roll of adhesive backed neoprene sheet.
Just a heads up from personal experience, sharper corners on grip tape seem to have more of a tendency to lift
They are indeed the sex
Well it’s been like 2 years but I am reviving this thread from the dead.
I actually finally really have this build together and working again after many many life things (and getting a tabor…). There have been many tribulations after getting it together but it is now in a working? state. Not really but it is put together and I was able to ride it for at least a little bit.
So I guess I’ll start off with putting it together:
3D printed riser with power button, charge port, and loopkey (I don’t have the files anymore for the riser, computer got wiped ):
SO
I got everything put together, it looks beautiful andddddd
I went on the inaugural ride after figuring all that out and then on a quite steep hill while braking one of the idlers popped off… Running above 60T pulleys (I’m running 66T) with the BN idler mounts is not recommended and now I know why. After some loctite it is up and running again but definitely a temporary setup. I very much would not like to lug this board back about half a mile to my house in 100 degree weather again I did probably almost get heat stroke tbh (all good now).
Went on another ride after that debacle and even after swapping out bushings quite a few times I couldn’t find a setup that didn’t cause wobbles. After double checking the angles turns out I was running 45 in the back and ~60 in the front. With the gbomb brackets being 15 degrees I had to adjust the baseplates. Lo and behold when I went to adjust themmmm:
Threw together a cable tidy because I was really unsatisfied with my just-cable-tie-the-2-sides-together-its-just-to-get-it-working solution:
Also the board is really creaky?
So after finally getting it together I am immediately going to change a bunch of stuff because dualities exist and I’m an impulsive bitch . With the baseplate issue as well as the idler issue I figured it would be best to move away from the BN trucks/mounts. Going to be picking a set of the mtb 270mm dualitues with 10mm axles when they become available again for sure, along with the radium 20x20 mounts. With my front and back being 15 degree angles Tito said that the mtb versions should work if I just put the 0deg on the back and the 15 deg on the front to make it 15/30 like it should be.
I really don’t know if I should consider this build the same one anymore but I think as long as I have one part from the previous iteration build I’m gonna just keep everything in this thread. Right now that is the trucks (which are on the way out) and the metr module .
Inaugural ride pic ^^
Bear in mind your mounts will sit at a pretty low angle without the ability to raise them.
They didn’t work for me on dualities at all…
Yeah I figured that they were gonna sit pretty low, I was gonna see if I could make a bash guard/handle to prevent the motors from getting destroyed.
so you lost your riser file, did it take awhile to make?
Yeah unfortunately, it took a couple iterations to get right. If I wanted to recreate it it wouldn’t be too bad, but as it is extremely specialized to the HAYA and I don’t see many people out there with one I’m probably not gonna try to make it again. I have the one in my board and that’s really all I need after all
