Voyage Systems: Megan and Minnie

No.

Yes it could potentially benefit from a better receiver. Since we use UBX protocol to communicate with GPS module, please only consider GPS modules based on u-blox chips. For example NEO-M9N, I think it should be pretty good right?

Finally got the new minnie in, now everything is working!!! Here are some screen shots of the gps with the lid removed, with lid on, and with lid and footpad. Very happy with the outcome

I’ve only ever gotten the GPS to work once, when I bench tested it. Since then, it never got another lock or picked up anything.

The Minnie functions fine, I’ve swapped to the other GPS unit I had (have 2 Minnies on the shelf), as well as a BN-220, and still nothing.

I used the same wiring connector it came with, tried another, but either way, the pins look like they trace to the same place. So I don’t really know what to do.

I stuck it outside with minimal cloud cover, nothing covering the receiver, still nothing. Waited 5 minutes, no dice.

Not sure where to go from here, so I’m going to close it back up and see if it ever connects.

Edit: I do remember that it was getting satellite locks on the bench, before I updated the Minnie firmware. When I installed everything into the board, I updated the Minnie and haven’t seen a GPS lock since.

I’m unsure if this would/could cause this, but it’s worth mentioning.

Thank you, I’ll order this and see if it works any better.

That is the exact issue i had, when i received the new minnie, the first thing i did was update the fw.
If you do not have a continuous red light on the minnie, it’s not seeing your gps. On your app, you can see the target on the right side with 0, so your minnie is seeing the gps.

Update. The GPS did get a lock, for a few satellites, and managed to track it on the logs.

It was only about 4-7, but it did work. So that’s a good sign, and it seems nothing is actually broken. I’m guessing the conditions here have just made it more difficult to get a lock, as it took a decent amount of riding time before it started recording location.

But, it did work, which is great.

I’m not really sure what to make of this… Seems like my Minnie failed to record properly for about 4 hours. Ever seen this before? Is there something I can do to recover the lost records? Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening again?

Thanks!

Sorry about that, this is not something we have seen before. I am afraid there is no way to recover the lost records. Please keep an eye on it and let us know if it happens again!

Will do!

I used to use a metr pro but it got fried and I lost the number for it, is there any way to access my uploaded records on metr.at?

tip tip! Get an M10Q gps antenna, can linda be any brand, mine was $20 and i know there were some i got for cheaper. they come in all sorts of sizes too

it locks on significantly faster and I got satellite counts exceeding 20 in most cases so far

you do have to reorder the pinnout most likely but that’s like a 2 minute fix

Do you still have the Metr app installed with records in it?

I have this issue after I updated the firmware of my Megan to the latest, I cannot change any settings and it says FW not supported as it shows in picture, all settings for Megan is unavailable and greyed out both in export mode and basic settings, anybody else had this issue?

Sorry for that, you need TestFlight / Beta version of both Metr and Voyage Connect apps to be compatible with Beta firmware.

It fixed my issue!, I assume there is no plans for being able to rotate the screen like the devage could?

(asking because otherwise I need to reprint my custom handle bar mount  .

No plans for Megan currently, but thanks for the interest, we are investigating some solutions for e-bikes.
