VESC-Tool 2.0 and Firmware 4.0 - The beginning of a new era - (SERIOUS)

there is an update now for the new firmware

This HFI noise reminds me what I have with ROXXY 12S ESC.

High pitch noise at startup and almost no cogging without sensors

Itā€™s nothing else than that.

I seem to have got good result with 8, 4 and 4V. Awesome :clap:t2:

Ive seen hella 4.12 burned just from trying to do motor detection in FOC, is that no longer a problem anymore?

Perhaps a bit unrelated?
But whatā€™s the difference between write motor config and write app config?
Each time I enter something I donā€™t know which to press, so I always go with both.

Motor config locks in your motor and battery settings, app locks in your controller settings.

I know the difference ā€” and still press both ā€œreadā€ and both ā€œwriteā€ before and after ANY change. Just easier to eliminate another way a possible error can happen.

Iā€™m running on the 4.20 dual VESC from Flipsky but itā€™s still a 4.12 hardware if I am not mistaken, never had issue running motor detection in FOC thoughā€¦

I donā€™t think itā€™s an option for you to run detection in BLDC anymore since some time ago

BLDC is still fully supported in current VESC tool, now I gotta run FOC on all my 4.20 hell yeah brother.

Yea it is supported but the option to run detection in BLDC isnā€™t there anymore (I donā€™t see it in the Android app at least), one gotta run detection in FOC then change to BLDC in the motor config tab :+1:

Oh yeah, im not doing setup via bluetooth.

Yo I just got a dumbass idea, I remembered a long time ago my RC cars ESC would play a little startup tune every time it turns on, by using the motor as a speaker.

This just reminded me of that again. How loud can it get and is it possible to use the motors as a horn or bell for pedestrians with a button on the remote? That would be neat!

Iā€™ve never seen that before but I donā€™t think you would want your 6374 motor oscillating enough to make audible sounds in general let alone when youā€™re moving.

Donā€™t really feel it. And these RC motors wernā€™t small, 4025s and 50s too. It actually took me awhile to figure out that there was no speaker on the ESC. Also the loud honk noise that you get when you push a motor too hard and the ESC unsyncs. I feel like oscillation in the audible spectrum (say 5kHz) would not be noticable whatsoever riding.

Now I have to find videos of this, very interesting.

I remember what it was now, they were Scorpion motors helicopter ESCs.

Thatā€™s a very recent memory for me, the Max6 ESCs ping the motors on startup to indicate the number of cells in series. So the startup sound from each motor was 8 pings. Also sounded very strange when braking, not sure if they used HFI for that too.

Frank bangs on itā€¦
