Really?
what you’re surprised? Its a site managed and built by vedder. Think trampa paid for the server but Ben keep tabs on it. Think he only had like one crash in…3-4 years? Think thats pretty decent considering.
It was only crashing for me when attempting to connect to ESC. Tool would load, I would click auto connect and it would crash
Yeah, today we have cloud hosting with auto load balancing, replicating and failover. None of which can be done reliably if the server is in your basement
Guessing paying for power is cheaper then a cloud service
Not necessarily if you factor in the cost of a decent server machine, also considering that they are aging as well.
Happened several times, usually fixed fast. But once it actually took several days, because Benjamin was on a trip and could not restart the server at home. True story.
Let’s be real here, if it’s a single website he is hosting it could easily be done on just an old laptop. I’m not saying that’s a good approach, but it would have enough resources.

Brian, adults aren’t hosting websites on RPI4s. Haha
If a raspberry pi is enough then the site must have very underwhelming traffic, which may be true, I am not too familiar with that page.
They are.
I’m revoking their adult card then and I was never given one.
Trampa sold Vedder to Enertion some Moons ago. Thats why they can move into a big warehouse.
And now Potters CreditCard is expired…
I’ve hosted sites in my old home with a Raspberry Pi 2.
But nobody was relying on those sites. key takeaway
And you’d be surprised how much they can actually do. Except guarantee uptime…
Guys, I am well aware of what one can do, which is not the same as what one should do. Ha
Do I need to be that guy and ruin raspberry pis for you?
I also hosted my own homepage on a Pi for a while. But even for that I switched over to a vServer that costs me like 2$/mth. And as soon as you have some real traffic and people relying on the site it doesn’t hurt to pay 10-20$ for a half decent cloud instance with a lot of added reliability. Just my opinion
