I think you’re probably right about the 3% for goods and services protection. What’s making me paranoid is the radio silence the moment I brought up VAT exemption. As much as I would like one of these decks, I definitely can’t bring myself to sending them anything until I hear something back from them. Judging by the immediate urgency to secure a sale and sudden disconnect when I brought up the VAT thing, I get the impression that they aren’t so strapped for cash that they’ll get back to me anytime soon. Do you know of any US based MTB manufacturers that make a decks with actual flex and pop?
Ooof, yeah. I think i may seek a different manufacturer.
You know…since it’s not an actual site you’re shopping from, it could very well be that they are planning on keeping the VAT for themselves.
Dude this is so sketch.
That was the immediate thought that came to mind. I personally can’t stand US taxes, let alone getting involved in financing the EU. I’d probably be more inclined to pay the price they gave me if they had just tacked it onto shipping. I’m just weirded out by the whole thing now. I asked shiteside about it, but i’ll ask you too: Are you aware of any US based MTB manufacturers that make decks with some mid-level flex? I looked into MBS, but everything I’m seeing is that their decks are incredibly rigid.
Trampa albeit in the Uk makes flexible decks (depending on the PLY)
Shipping is crazy fast.
Otherwise potentially some haeroboard reseller?
yeah on second thought X is right, this is almost comically sketchy. Nope unfortunately I know almost nothing about mountainboards, and I’m EU based
who resells Haeros?
I’m an idiot. i’m sure i can find them on ebay or something
No idea, it was a guess. Otherwise hit up haero and ask about shipping. @Haeroboards ?
Flex options are medium and stiff so maybe not flexy enough
this should be interesting…
it was actually Haero that I was trying to purchase from. I don’t know if I’m the first person to notice or if they just mostly sell to EU customers or what. I didn’t want to throw them under the bus since i’m sure they aren’t trying to scam people, but who knows. I was emailing someone named Phil from the company. I don’t think they’ll acknowledge this convo.
They’ve got quite the amount of boards in the US, UK and AUS.
So not sure what the deal is. Given the reputation haero has i kinda want to give them the benefit of the doubt with my previous statement but it sure doesn’t look good.
Any haero owners wanna chime in?
@Lee_Wright
@glyphiks
@Taraskasyanyuk
?
Yeah, I really don’t think they’re trying to do anything nefarious, but I legit want one of their boards and I got spooked by the radio silence. I don’t want to give anyone the impression that they’re actively trying to commit fraud. I probably misunderstood the invoice or something, but i won’t know until they respond to my last inquiry.
@Taraskasyanyuk would probably be able to provide the most insight since it looks like he lives in Chicago, but Australia is in the EU, so @glyphiks was probably Charged VAT properly. @Lee_Wright may have been exempt at the time of his purchase so he might be able to provide equally decent input on this.
Hey dude
If you want a Hero deck for building an eMTB you could snag one of our predator decks (Its a hero bro with an apex monochrome reskin) Advantage being our deck has inserts for attaching a battery enclosure, this helps things look very neat.
Makes a mean looking eboard
Didn’t have time to read all comments, but you looking to buy a Haero in US?
Is where I got mine.
Otherwise, @Lee_Wright is a great dude who can hook ya up.
weird, right? i had to look it up.
I’m fairly certain Australia isn’t in the European Union
You’re definitely right. I’m retarded and misread austria
