Well there still are bilateral administrative assistance acts between countries so be careful if you live in such a country, it’s common thing for example between France and a shitload of countries all over the world ;

TLDR they could ask your local tax administration to go after your ass if there is an existing treaty (which might be the case for most UE based countries or a Finance law might follow shortly if they realize they fucked up and lost this privilege).

The amount of micromanagement there is in Europe has always been crazy to me. I feel like you have to register with like 3 different agencies to take a shit. Don’t the police try to look into the windows to see if you have a TV? :rofl: so they can tax you for it. Fuck rules. I’m a democrat but I appreciate the republicans doing their best to stop us from becoming like the EU.

Good you brought it up, I didnt know. I have already shipped some orders to the UK this month, none of them arrived yet, seems they are delayed for some reason, could be due to this. But I wonder how the UK plans to actually enforce this and get the money from the seller…

Yes but there must be some platform to pay the VAT and which will subsequently give green light to the customs. The carrier I used did not state anything about this regulation so where should the VAT payment go?

Yeah, I was about to bring this up as well. Given that a vast majority of my sales go outside of EU, I’m seriously considering to stop selling in the EU completely. EU business not shipping in the EU. Funny, right?

We have been shipping into the EU this year and haven’t had any issues so far, weve also received consignments form outside the UK again without issue.

yes maybe, but we are all trying to bob and weave through this mess. We also have our own products to sell elsewhere so will likely have to do the same the other way too.

Well if that makes sense to cheer you up guys, this text follows up on the “Unique Bureau” (in French we say Guichet Unique) ; roughly it should be like that :

  • You add VAT on your sales bills, collect from customers upon payment ;
  • Fill your VAT forms as usual (you might fill amounts corresponding to each country of sale)
  • Pay the collected VAT to your local Customs bureau

At least that’s how they want it to work ; all for the sake of killing Tax avoiding behaviors :man_facepalming:t5: and yes, knowing performance of public services, it will be a shit show for sure at beginning.

what if you were taking sales through a uk registered business? then you would already be paying VAT in the normal way no?

u need to have a tv license to be able to buy a tv, had that problem 7 years ago while I was in the UK, I just wanted to play some goddamn PS4 games, but nope. Took me forever to convience the store that I don’t even watch the goddamn news, so they will sell me a cheap one :man_facepalming:t2:
