I use cut-off ziptie ends. Fight me.
Nice. Will order.
How are these threaded inserts that @mmaner linked?
It seemed like quite a lot of people ordered these a while back so are they still holding up flawlessly? I am about to order 16 m5 which are 10mm long for my Haero bro 96 stiff deck and I was wondering if this is okay. The deck is 13.5mm thick.

Mine have held no problem, I use a heavy 12s4p 24Ah LiFePo4 pack aswell.
Edit: maybe worth noting I installed them with a liberal application of marine style epoxy.
These are the inserts Kaly sends with his enclosures. They are M4 -07 x 6mm, and I canât find them anywhere. The shortest I can find is 8mm for m4. They are really nice to build with.

Would these work or is 8mm to long

if you have any would be great
And wouldnât you want to go bigger than m4?
How did these turnout?
I was suggested Sex-bolts/barrel nuts by @glyphiks.
This is what I plan on using forevermore as long as the deck isnât already skinned/gripped.
No chance for them to pull out.
Took a bit to find, and I wouldnât mind finding some cheaper ones or some with more variety of lengths.
The flat head is a nice touch. I used these carbon steel ones and theyâve been solid as well
Thanks guys you rock
Idk about your deck thickness but I went with 25mm
Thank you. I really appreciate the update. I just ordered them.
I have been using some threaded inserts put in via epoxy and 2 off them got cross threaded and got pulled out
I tried putting in some new ones using jbweld but they keep coming out again
What epoxy can I use or is there a better method I can use
What inserts. Can we see how well youa re filling the hole back in? Could you add something to the epoxy?
Are you letting the epoxy fully cure before messing with?
âif you donât have time to do it right, you better have time to do it againâ
i left for 48 hours
i have been using jbweld but @bigben recommended gorrilla glue epoxy which i bought and will try again
i was thinking maybe i havent been mixing the jbweld well enough
i have way overfilled the holes with epoxy in
How big are you drilling your holes?
The inserts should still have a tight fit into the deck - you canât just ream out a massive hole and fill the gap with epoxy. Epoxy canât be threaded (well).
i fill with liquid epoxy and while it is still wet i push in the insert after taping the bottom of it
then the epoxy hardens around the insert
If youâre pushing the inserts in, not threading them in (assuming youâre using externally threaded inserts), your hole is too big.
Use the correct drill bit:
