Ah crap. I understand now. That suxs man.
For us here is pretty much step outside your door and ride wherever you want “all within limits of corse”
Cops just look at you and don’t really care
A tip for you with the static mini jumps to turn… press down with your back foot and pull up with your front foot, you will feel a balance point, just do that as you swing and you can do a 180 like that.
I’m at the beginning and thanks for the tip.
Sure, just remember that tip and you can make little bunny hops and turn.
Some other tips I picked up would be to be leaning backwards when going over rough terrain, make sure you keep that front end light. This allows you to skip over objects and not get your front wheel dug in. You want to have a lot of weight on the back foot when off road. You can get speed wobbles on channel trucks, be careful and take it steady. If you are not used to 8 inch tyres be careful when coming off the accelerator at high speed, it can feel like brakes, same for changing terrain, be prepared for resistance changes and lean back, keep the front light!
I’m used to that fact on my bike. But a mountainboard is a another story.
To prevent falls, right?
Yeah to prevent falls - they are pretty spectacular on eMTB and are caused from two things - mostly not having weight in the right place, keep the back weighted and you will be ok. The other thing that happens is the board can slide and you catch an edge like a snowboard. If the front end gets stuck you will fly over the front and depending on how your feet end up you can fuck yourself up pretty bad. I see you have heel straps, you should wear them always. The worst thing that can happen is only one foot comes out of the board and one stays in. Better to stay with the board during a fall.
They also give you much more control. Also a full face helmet is a must if you dont have one already. I also now always use full body armour.
This is nothing to do with a mountain bike, it’s a lot harder to safely travel at a reasonable speed off road.
I’ll add one small tip to Lee’s on point suggestion.
If you see a large bump or crack coming, press down into the deck like a trampoline so you’re springing up while you hit it. Makes for a smoother ride with less chance of catching a bad wobble.
Basically an ollie. ok.
@Lee_Wright I have a full face helmet. IXS Xact.
Also crash pants and full body armor, kneepads, overall, gloves. That was the first buy I made, when I started going offroad with a G4X. On the list are shoes with ankle support.
Good man, cant wait to see your progression! Keep us posted
I borrowed the gloves and overall from Klaus btw.
I’m not impressed
Seriously, try to route them dfferent. you want as less strain on the cables as possible. The most little movement is at the kingpin that’s why I always route cables like this on MTB:
I’ve mounted a “cable manager/holder” to the baseplate
Your wires look long enough to route the cables this way which would be much better. Also the loop of the wires at the left motor looks small, the right one looks good. A hint, slide a heat shrink tube on the zip tie then it has more grip especially on the slippery oil slicks.
I am writing this to save you money and troubles. I have 5 or 6 broken closed Maytech motors so far, 3 of them had internal shorts I guess because of cable movement inside the motor.
I don’t trust any motor out of the box without battle hardening and gluing the phase wires inside and outside plus waterproofing the hall sensors. For me it was an expensive lesson.
Such an essential tip
Was that from you? I want one in red if you’re taking orders yet
It wasnt from me bro although it is my design. I have the file on thingiverse. I can print it for you but you would have to wait, the printer is printing face shield parts for the NHS at the mo and I dont intend on stopping it until this is over!
My instructor wanted to do a test print with tpu at work and I thought, why not printing a wand cover from Lee? It’s Ultimaker TPU 95A.
Maybe you could print one for Harry?
No problem. The only thing I need, is tpu filament for my printer at home.
Good lad, great to hear you’re helping
I didn’t know the file was available, I’ll have a look. I’ve got a couple of friends with 3d printers, I’ll see if theirs are free anytime soon.
wait a sec…
I’m not a lad
