I will be curious to see how your battery enclosure works out, I have a deck just like that on the back burner because I can’t find a good one for the huge concave it has. That will be a super nice build when your done!
As far as the axles have you talked to Keven @Boardnamics to help?

This is my other option. This enclosed sort of fits. It’s gonna get some fiberglass epoxy first.
I’ve got this derelict battery that is thinner. I might go that way.
