Just throwing out there that the distance between bearings in a urethane core is usually 10.2mm not 10mm. Specifically 0.400”
This. So much this. For all the over priced bullshit out there that fails miserably, i don’t know why everyone isn’t using zealous steels.
although i admit to having straight up 608 motor bearings in my pusher but i don’t mind replacing them all the time because the freeroll is astronomical. But that’s not an esk8, its a loaded motherboard.
This seems like just another example to add to the list of catastrophic failure from ceramic bearings.
At this point, I usually recommend against them except for applications like LDP.
In any case, there’s no advantage to a high performance low rolling resistance bearing when you’ve got massive motors connected to the wheel. What’s a more efficient bearing going to do? Give you an extra 500 feet of range?
You have more resistance by T posing in the wind honestly, not a big deal. Reliability all the way
I looked into Zealous, but unfortunately it doesn’t look like they make a 10mm bearing which is what I need… But I did order some Japanese steel bearings so hopefully the failures will be in the past!
The manufacturers should say “not for Esk8” for their ceramic bearings as, if they failed for how I was riding, that’s pretty sad. Mostly longboard street riding at 10- 25 mph… That shouldn’t push any bearing to failure within 2-3 months of riding a few times a week…
and Tekton has not replied to my inquiry about warranty which is disappointing as well…
Have you tried NSK bearings? They’re solid, but i don’t know what sizes they have available.
NSK has everything under the sun, but the average price I saw was $14 per bearing for their 6900-2RS steel bearings. https://www.ezo-usa.com/ giving these guys a try. From what little I’ve read, Japan makes better bearings than China so I’m giving them a try. Should arrive in a week. About $5 per bearing. Of the few 10mm online skate bearing sellers, I couldn’t find any that had 10mm in stock. Maybe a COVID issue? Don’t know…
Thought the old metric conversion was to blame again for the ill-fitting cheap spacers available. I believe Seismic spec their spacers to correct size though, the Tekton Precision-Profiled XT Steel Spacers come in at 0.400-inch
I recently bought some 6800 for my motors from ezo, I wanted to get nsk/skf but the guy told me they dont stock them anymore, but that sfk doesnt even manfucture these small bearings that we use, they apparantley just put them in a sfk box and sell it like that. Which sounds kinda normal I guess…
ESPECIALLY in the bearing world, where is 100000 brands and probably less than 50 factories
Has anyone ever made an enclosure for that deck?
i started but realized its shit for capacity no matter how you do it.
