Show us ya joints!

Austor 60/40 1.2mm Leaded solder has given me speed and potential long-term health effects

In all seriousness, lead-free is undoubtedly better for you.

Requires more skill? Yes.

Do I wanna switch? No.

Better for you? Maybe, if you use no PPE.

Better? Hell no.

Leaded all the way.

Safety stand down time:

don’t huff the smoke, leaded or not. Rosin smoke probably doesn’t contain lead as lead doesn’t vaporize at the temps we work at but
don’t huff that smoke from any solder. It’s nasty and will mess you up. Ventilation and air filtration is critical. Gotta get that smoke out of your face and outside.

This concludes your weekly safety training. Remember, safety third - not safety never

These are a couple of my worst ones yet!

Anybody have tips on small joints that you can’t see while you solder?

So my brother put a usb female on his 12v buc… but because it works on your phone doesn’t mean everything usb c will work. Not a smart usbc out… just a regular cut end from a usb cable

Remote stops charging, cardo stops charging, flashlight stops charging. All with blown chips.

Fixed two remotes, hopefully the cardo can be repaired too

Removed the hybrid part of my automobile and had to do some Arduino trickery… So I got to do little wires! Been too long since I properly soldered. We use little heat shrink solder all-in-ones daily at work. But I like the real thing.

My TS80 broke so I’ve got the $5 Hazard Fraught iron. Flux and good lead solder is my saving grace.
