SEA Carve 2025 - Seattle WA esk8 event July 10th - 13th 2025 - 3rd Annual!!!

I’ve suggested this before but I just want to reiterate because I think it’s so effective. The fastest zoomers should zoom back when they reach the stop point and pick up the slowest stragglers.

That way you don’t have sweeps who will be bored out of their minds all day.

I guess rotating sweeps would be a good idea too.

I just don’t want to burden anyone. This year I intend to have 2 rescue squads at the ready.

And a light.

none of the sweepers get bored or tired of picking up stragglers, everyone doing sweeps or blocking or leading on the pnwesk8 crew has doubly volunteered for the rolls or is pitching in spontaneously because we want to and its important. cant invite a bunch of people to your city and expect them to know all the routs or dangerous spots off the hop and we want to show off all the rad shit we have going on here

just do your best to soak up some that Sea-town air and views and remember to pick your own lines, no one knows your skill level better than you. Speeds and mileage is going to be posted on the rides.

sunset is somewhere around 9pm so any rides that start at 7 will likely end in the dark so bring a light that is bright enough to ride and lasts an hour at that level. no keychain lights that you can only go 5mph with because you cant see. i find something in the 750-1000 lumen works for most of the time, but as i get older I’m pushing up the lumens. latest is probably around 2k with a nice flood so i can ride at my normal speed and see everything i want.

Alright, I’ve booked a hotel! Here is my charger situation @Pecos Charger currently runs at 50.4V and 10A. XT60 female connector into an N-Linko LP-16 socket to the battery. Photos for info.
I will for sure be bringing the dog along, his name is Mochi, he is very friendly.
I may or may not have a couple other esk8’ers from Vancouver, BC with me. They would both be riding Acedeck Nomad N3s with 14s6p batteries but no XT60 Female charge connectors on their chargers. We all have lots of lights for night riding, multiple SL1000s per person.

Can’t wait to meet all you awesome people and carve up Seattle for my first time!

Nice! If your friend puts a similar adapter together most all of the rodger universal chargers can do 1-140vdc charging. Just have them make something similar to yours with amazon parts or lend a hand and make one up for them if you can. We all pitch in to make these things work. I have some alligator clips for emergencies but i prefer not to need them :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Doing a dry run and some tuning on the sunday stan route this year. Such a great run if you can swing it. If it works out right the city might be closing the best part of it to cars carve weekend :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

What’s the best way to get my board there? I’m flying from Boston I assume I’ll have to ship it beforehand?

If you’re staying in a hotel, you can ship to there. If you call the staff and let them know often they’ll have a policy for how early you can do that.

Id say ship to me but i live in porch pirate territory. Pack it well. If you ship just the battery you can take a board in luggage as “sports equipment “ on some airlines but also - pack it well as it’s gonna get handled.

Where you staying?

Crashing at a family members place in Bellevue, shipping won’t be an issue. Thanks!

That reminds me, last year I was woefully under-equipped. Everyone around me had backpacks ranging from small to gigantic. I had a remote and a helmet

So the question is, what’s in your backpack? What did you take that you used, and what did you take that you didn’t use. What would you take this time that you didn’t have last time?

You can ship it and see if a location can hold the package for you until either you or a family member can come pick it up. This way it doesn’t just sit outside.

Mostly spare parts like belts, tubes, tools, air pump, charger, etc. I was riding EUC at the time so I had a big ol backpack that carries everything I need for all day rides. What I recommend is bringing a charge connector for your board with a male XT-60 on the other end. This way other guys can potentially charge your board if your charger died or you didn’t bring one.

To add, also doesn’t hurt to throw a female-female and male-male XT60 gender changers into the bag too. Just two connectors soldered directly to each other; doesn’t take up any space and could be a lifesaver.

Keep in mind this is when im doing 30 or more miles from my starting point. Need to get a little fanny pack for no backpack rides cause i hate having things in my pockets.

I keep a charger and all the adapters including phone and remote charging cables in a pouch that gets added to my pack depending on the ride.

I always bring a small tool kit with just the minimum required for basic side of the road repairs plus blue vibratite gel… because if it’s loose and i just snug it ill forget to re apply later and just have to snug it up again. One tire tube and a micro powered pump - cheapest/smallest i could find on amazon.

Primary flashlight and a backup i can share or use plus an extra set of batteries. 3000 lumen or more for dark fast riding

Water, chapstick, lighter, one extra layer - depending on the season, sunglasses and clear glasses, 4ish zipties and the end of a roll of tessa tape. Maybe a beverage

All fits in a medium messenger bag and without the charger is pretty light and not too bulky. Have some red flashers on the bag for visibility at dusk/night

It’s annoying to me that the train is way more expensive than flying. I’m not 100% sure I could, but I was hoping I could check my board on the train. It’s over $100 more than flying, so it’s not worth it, though :rage:.

I still haven’t fully decided if I’m going to come to SEA, but I’ve never been to Seattle and have it on my list of trips to do now that I’m on the west coast, so I’m strongly considering it.

Hot take: Trains for transport of people is actively hamstrung by law and lobbying by automakers. It’s the same reason why mass transit is often inferior to car travel.

$100 extra might actually be a good deal if you don’t have to do anything fancy to get your board here though.

And seattle mass transit is getting way better as well because a huge city wide push for protected bike and transit lanes over cars. I use the ebike to pick up my kid from school because it’s faster than driving in afternoon traffic. Even though I cruise at 15mph there and back

Yeah, I’ll have to think about it more and look into whether I can check the board. The nice thing about the train is that the station is a few miles from my house. If I fly, I either have to take a combination of train and bus/Uber to get to the airport in the first place or pay for parking. It’s a long train ride to Seattle, but I don’t really mind hanging out on a train for a day.

The train is actually pretty good around here for medium distances, though. If I want to go to Oakland or Sacramento, it’s about the same price as gas, just as quick, and I can chill and watch stuff on my laptop instead of driving. The only issue is getting around once I get to those places. Usually, when I fly, I fly from Sacramento and take the train and then the bus, but the buses don’t run from 11 pm to 7 am, so I’ve had to Uber before, too.
