The real problem is that you can seriously damage the integrity of the bearings if you don’t have the proper tools to install them.

For real. That video explains it well about how the fiction is on the outer trace and hitting the inside trace transfers the force through the ball bearings.

I have a bench vice… but i didnt wanna go to the garage :joy: i used a timber block to hammer so force was kinda distributed.

But yeah, they were way too tight. Hopefully get my first roll on the Haero this weekend!

When replacing bearings on my drill press spindle all the old time guys told me to strike only the inner racer of the bearing cause hitting the outer racer can cause issues with the bearing.

Damn. That’s kinda the opposite of what Most peep believe in :grimacing:

Yeah that makes no sense dude, those old timers are cray cray

That was just an expression meaning that’s where you put force on lol

If you are putt the bearing on a rod which is what a spindle is ( it is what is spinning on the drill) you want to tap on the inner racer. If you are installing as a press fit without a rod in the center you want to tap the outer. Also never use a metal hammer for anything with bearings plastic heads on the mallet are the way to go.

Well yours are too tight, mine are too loose. They drop out by flipping the hub over. Or everytime i take the wheel off.
