šŸ–¼ Reply to ā€œPictures and nothing elseā€ thread 2025

I just got it a couple weeks ago (bought it off this website). It’s really fast (14S4P) and the build quality of the Onsra’s is top notch. I also like the water resistant O-Ring. It’s great for riding when it is wet outside. Out of the box, it turns great, but I still want to play with the bushing adjustments to make sure it is completely dialed-in. When I use the belt drives, it is the quietest board in my collection. I had some old Meepo Race Wheels (the aluminium red ones) that I spray painted with black automotive wheel paint (to complement the all black theme). My only issue so far is the deck. I’m still searching for the optimum foot placement. The deck is carbon fiber, so it is super stiff. I needed another board like I needed a hole in my head - but for $800, it was too hard to pass up. I justified buying it because I wanted a more waterproof board to ride in less ideal conditions.

for a stiff deck, that looks very hard to feel comfortable for long

So far, I agree. I can ride by Lacroix Boards all day long and my feet feel great. This Onsra is channeling the old Kaly NYC Design (but in Carbon Fiber). The ā€œbendā€ of the board locks my feet in place well enough, but there is absolutely no flex (all Carbon Fiber Boards have the same ā€œno flexā€ characteristic). That said, my opinions on boards tend to change over time, I really don’t know if I like a board (or not) until I put 500 miles on it or so. If I don’t like a board after 500 miles, then I really don’t like the board. So the my verdict is still out on this deck.

There is a film festival here in town. Me and the wife rode downtown together.

I brought the Nicky for maximum portability.

@b264 would be proud.

Did you get to test them yet? I wanted to make some for testing as well just didn’t get around to it yet.

How far from the car this time?

Also forgive me Lord… but have you looked at EUCs?

It was only 3ish miles this time, but it was not a fun 3ish miles. That fall HURT.

I was speeding up a bit to get up a thing. Got up the thing and my back end kicked heel side hard. No time to think about it, just hit the ground on my back. Luckily had a backpack on but upper back and neck are a little stiff. An Apex Air baseplate looks like it should fit the hanger until I can figure out a better quality kingpin bolt.

The lords do not forgive you.

Damn that sucks

The problem with these trucks is that the kingpin is upside-down so the threaded rod takes all the force. Surfrodz kingpins had the same problem

Oh interesting. Not saying I don’t believe you but am having trouble understanding how that becomes a problem. The bolt sheered in two. Bottom third or so is broken off a few threads down. Does cutting threads really reduce shear strength of a rod that much? Also I’ve done the same thing to Apex Airs. Threads are at the bottom of the hanger on those, still had two kingpins snap and the other two bend.

Was wondering if it’s just inherent to PKP trucks. Situation was very similar with both failures.

Yes you don’t want a threaded rod there. It is a known problem on longboard pumping because kingpins break a lot earlier if they are threaded.

Pkp trucks are definitely not the best for off road

I thought PKP trucks has some magic when offroading due to how they’re floating between 2 bushings without a pivot cup?

They do. These double delta trucks are so much fun. The duality board is great and like a Cadillac. This thing is something you just mob and beat the hell out of. 10/10 would recommend.

I wonder if you can get thicker kingpins? I think the radium rkp trucks use thicker kingpin

I think it must be and makes sense, the PKP I picked up had bent kingpins that needed replacing - I replaced them with grade 8 bolts (top needed some grinding to be flat with the baseplate). They’re the traditional style direction Apex baseplates.

Although this does have me thinking which grade of steel would be more likely for them to bend then snap?
