Are these 3D printed extensions? Guessing just as a test fit?

Short to chassis ground?

Sounds like he was spinning out a bit on launch.

Just a test fit, i suck at modeling so im iterating with pla before i get them cut from aluminum

Really suck lol. Finally got the fit right so i re did it from scratch… then realized i could do better and did it again. Latest is printing now :crossed_fingers:think i got it this time

Glad to see you are persistent in trying to get the right iteration to come to life

It’s part of the process pretty much anytime you’re building something of your own

I keep searching online hoping to find something available that would work as I would abandon this process in a heartbeat if I could. There just isn’t any option because i have chosen a ridiculous goal . Standards too high, skills too low

Gotta sharpen the axe mate in terms of those skills

They are probably not as dull as they seem if you are going to be honest with yourself

but if you keep going through the motions of Designing + building your visions can become clearer and in turn make it easier to bring yourself to create more severely complex projects and push through to the result that you want.

I love it to see it dude !!!

I was lol, still got away tho :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

later I got a 1.01 0-20mph. I couldn’t break 1 second no matter how hard I tried :sob:

Are you planning on having them cut similar to the 3d printed design, or are those just to test heights and angles? Getting that design made in aluminum would be really expensive I think, but maybe there is a way of making it that I’m not thinking of. Also, what are you trying to do that idea brackets don’t?

Haven’t priced anything yet so if i need to redesign again that’s ok. Im working on my design skills as well as addressing the problems here. All a part of the process.

I have some 30mm idea brackets but they are too long in their minimum spacing and don’t fit dualities with Out modification
. So a simple modification to the idea brackets would give me less than ideal wheelbase. So figured id try and find/make something better. The LEPSK8 brackets are closer to what i need but they also don’t fit dualities without modifying them and have less meat on them where i am modifying. They have cuts removing material where the brackets interface to the trucks so modifying makes them look a little anemic to me (no cad so just going by vibes)

The 3dp bracket is exactly just testing different setups, my ideal offset is 25mm for the clearance i want then what’s kinda a split between the lep bracket which is absolutely the minimum and the idea brackets which are very long. I may adjust my design to be more like the idea brackets for machining, you are probably right about getting this test shape milled getting expensive compared to just a basic z shape like the idea one.

Just to give you a very rough idea of the cost, the swingarms I am designing use similar sized stock material. From my (relatively expensive) alu supplier that would be ~100$ of material for the set of your brackets.

Generally speaking at decent quantities I’d estimate final cost around 2.5-3x material cost. Low quantities CAM time comes into the equation and it’s hard to predict what quotes you’d get, but if it’s easy enough to make I’d guess still at least 1.5x that for low quantity. I’d say before asking for a quote that you should expect roughly 4-5x material cost for final cost. But largely depends on where you get them from also. Though I’d be vary of ordering from china if I lived in the US right now

You can get them lasercut in a separate left / right like this. I prefer how it looks with the 2 sides completely separate.

The finish is much worse when you get them so I belt sanded for aesthetics, you would be looking at sendcutsend but on this side of the Atlantic, since I was already ordering a large sign, 80T pulleys, etc the price went approx €150 → €170. These were stainless, Alu is a similar price.

Yeah, something like what you’ve printed would start from a large chunk and require a lot of machining. I’ve thought of designing my own brackets, and was looking to do something more like @CarelessAquarist just mentioned, with getting the profile cut out of a thick sheet. I was probably going to bolt them together with spacers, which I think is how most of the idea brackets are.

I don’t have much experience, but I do know if you can cut something out of a sheet, that is way, way cheaper than getting a largeish hunk machined down. I assume that is why the idea brackets appear to be made in something like that process. I’m surprised by the price of LDP brackets, though. They seem very cheap if that is actually machined out of a billet.

Looks like you got free bushings now. Charge back

I think you mean

I sent an email letting them know about it. I’m fine with 2 but 4 would be nice.
The website saying ā€œbushings for velarā€ also implies multiple or even enough for their velar.

I guess I might be doing a chargeback after all. It will still cost me extra ship + tax because I need them delivered to Ireland instead of the Uk.

It makes sense when they have a policy like this. Or maybe it’s normal idk.

Those tires on the stretched Hubbas look so cool to me.

I hope they work well for you.

Do they come with special tunes? What size?

They came with tubes, didn’t pay much attention.

Here is a photo though

Reporting back I really really liked them today at intro. Awesome grip. Sidewall felt good to me. I enjoyed them.

Welcome to the Jungle is the standard one but some special edition ones come with Gangsta’s Paradise or the Tears for Fears classic ā€œEverybody wants to rule the worldā€

How are you finding these? The last set of knobby tyres I used in tarmac shredded really fast, not sure I know those ones.

Did you run any hub spacers with those tires?
