Urethane category would be fun!
Welp I guess the batteries do not like the cold, and 30 degrees American is shut off point. We’ll see when it’s not freezing if that changes.
I guess 11s2p when compared to 18s5p big diff in how temp effects battery
Yeah I’m an idiot, it has big power all the way through. I guess being lipo and 11s2p it gets fucked by cold weather.
Day #3 riding it, still highly recommend. It’s like my loaded race kit but has a power band that seems to go forever.
Cons: (imo not really cons in my eyes but other chi esk8 ppl didn’t like)
- you have to push to start
-brakes are not that powerful, and you have to know how to footbreak or slide going fast to really feel safe.
I’m not understanding why that would be the case. Is the BMS not bypassed on the Raith?
Generally you can discharge lithium batteries at freezing no problem. It’s charging them at freezing that is an absolute no go. You’ll ruin them if you do that
Perfomance significantly drops with the temperature. Perhaps the pack is sagging to cutoff
Inside of the thing is really cool, and I guess a window of no carbon on top rear so that there is less RF loss from receiver
Wtf discharge bms
Peeps gon die
It is definitely the biggest bms I have ever seen, why is it so dangerous to have them discharge? I have seen that the quality control for bms is usually shit.
So every1 bypasses BMS for discharge because they “usually” can’t handle what the esc wants?
Yes, because we rather come to a stop on a flaming board than get tboned by traffic on a not-on-fire board lol
(Talking about the situation in which you go down a big hill with a fully charged battery).
The worst part about seeing that giant BMS in there is that it’s evidence that whoever engineered this board has not been keeping up to date on diy esk8. I do not trust things built by those who just follow the datasheet.
guuuuuuuuuys
it’s ok
the flipsky escs from 2019 will die before the bms does
yeah they def do mention not to use brakes going dh on full battery,
but at the same time, the man has pushed that board harder than I ever will so I hope to not run into any failures.
Everyone who has tried the board loves it, even Morgan who went in thinking he was going to hate it and it be too low of torque loved it.
I know I sound like a shill but it is a downhill simulator, which is what I got into esk8 for.
I’m sure the board is fine, I’m just a salty DIYer lol
@Zachsnotboard you confirmed my theory.
The awful cold weather performance is probably due to the bms. If you bypass the bms, I bet you’ll have better performance at 30f.
@glyphiks is right that cells perform worse at low temps, but they don’t drop off a cliff at 30f. They should still perform ok at that temp.
What cells are they using?
lipo

yeah you def were right, no problems since its been 45 F plus now
11s BMS on a 9s battery?
