Radium Performance

We are working through the idea of putting 10 Mach One’s aside for invitational stock class racing.

The idea being to make racing more accessible by not needing to own or ship a board across Australia to race, and you aren’t forced to own a 40hp widowmaker to win.

We could even do teams of 3 people from each state, plus a dh skate team etc. Each team would share a board and have to set up the trucks and torque vectoring as a compromise between the 3 of them.

I’m hoping we can have some marketing budget for something like this next year.

Our pleasure. It was awesome to finally race eachother on a real racetrack. The racing was clean, competitive and super exciting. The pro class, as im sure all the other groups at the comp were very amicable and helpful to one another, lending parts and advice to one another without hesistation.

Plenty of lessons, suprises and a couple of crashes that certainly made things very interesting leading up to finals! Really looking forward to seeing the footage, especially the several overtakes between Dyl, Jack and Myself in heat 2 - which was probably the best single race ive been involved in.

I was personally very impressed with how the mach one performed on this track and look forward to seeing its capabilities across other tracks as ERL hopefully makes it across the country. Long track really suits this board

He had just signed the track :joy:

The first thing he did after pulling into the pits was to go swap his wheels for victory donuts on the Onsra 115, and it was epic :ok_hand:

Genuinely interested in where you feel the M1 shined and where you feel it may be challenged on other tracks.

I know shit all about the various track layouts, is there a resource to learn more about the various track configurations? Dead keen to learn and hopefully be of assistance to planning/runnimg racing events more locally to Melbourne.

A few factors determined the outcome of the race. Starting grid position, grip, racing lines and rider skills. But the mach 1 definitely proved its worth on the long track!

If comparing directly to my lap data, Dylans, @Jaws and @Tony_Stark speeds through the turns was where they gained an advantage in comparison to mine. My advantage was acceleration out of the turn and a slightly higher speed on the straight.

Another factor is rider skill and racing lines. Dylan is extremely talented and could drift the corners at speed, and in turn was taking very nice racing lines. Both Liam and Jack have great racing knowledge and were also taking nice lines that gave them some great speeds through the corners, getting the most out of the width of the track. My short track racing approach of “tightest line is the fastest line” did not apply here, and it actually made me question whether this approach is even applicable to short track or if i should start trying new lines. My grip was pretty average on BRP but i couldn’t get the stability i wanted when i tried pneumatics.

The only short track I have seen the mach 1 on is at esk8con and Dylan got around it quite nicely, however i think the short track didnt showcase the mach ones racing abilities as much as our recent track did.

Raceboards are subjective to the riders preferences and skills so its hard to say where it will do well and where it might be challeneged. I think its safe to say that when Dylan and even @Tony_Stark are on them, they’ll perform well

It’s definitely worth experimenting with your lines. On my setup I turned so tight by default that if I paid attention to have my T-race turns be wider, I usually ended up getting better lap times. At least that was the case when my board was 2wd. Yet to take the 4wd out for a T-race session, it has better power delivery but the steering response’s feel changed a lot and I am not sure yet if it’s for better or worse.
