Motor can / shaft play - making rubbing noises

do i just need to tighten the shaft set screws here?

getting some play in the can or shaft, not sure, but it’s making the can rub on something and it’s making some nasty noises

Take the motor apart, check the bearings. If it’s a bearing issue, it can be fixed.

Also see if the shaft wiggles in the can, this may be the issue.

If the shaft wobbles in the can, then it may be toast. If it spins only but doesn’t wobble, it can be fixed.

I am trying to drill through the shaft to insert a roll pin or maybe tap it and use a bolt of that’s even possible.

Do you think I should take the shaft out of the can? The drill bit doesn’t seem to drill the shaft

The shaft is case hardened. Look that up. That’s what you are feeling. Once you break through the surface it will drill like butter.
