Moon's AT 2 Gear drive

Yea, no idea why the embedded video isnt working. All my settings are good and embedded is enabled.

It works now but this thread has gone totally off topic

I’m gonna delete the damn thread and start over…or do we think we can all talk about the damn gear drive now!?

I am willing to part with some schmeckles for this

Literally. :joy:
Back to topic. Your drive sound is awsome. I love the high pitched sound from the gears. On steel it would sound even better.

I don’t even have the board maxed out in these videos. The ride was around 16 mph too. I’m dialing in my trucks and will get going quicker on it in the next ride!

The gear drives are really well made too, I love how you aren’t limited to just one or two angles to mount them, they work with tons of trucks, just need the right mount. I’m using an @LR-designs Surf rodz mount with these drives right now.

Yes. I am very excited to pick up a set of these as well as the 3gd. All in good time.

Take my money!

So far, everything @moon has created and designed has been damn fine. He is quick to take suggestions and makes the improvements that can be made or explains why there wouldn’t be a difference if there isn’t one.

This thing is so smooth, even slamming on the throttle, it purs and rockets the board and your body perfectly, no jolting, no stuttering. Just smooth and consistent torque.

I’ll post some pictures of the assembly in a few

These are the bkb 6374s butt to butt with the lr designs clamp… Idk how much longer of a motor it could take without some really clever spacing. A truck clamp that had a larger collar or standoff around it would separate the gear cases a bit.

Apparently bkb’s 6374s are actually 90mm just for reference. Plenty of room.

My new clamps are a little thinner and smaller in diameter (so you can run smaller pinions for higher gear ratios). But your setup does proove that even the longest of motors can work. Actually forgot how you ran yours

Yup ahah.

Don’t laugh at me you bully. They have 74 in the name! :anger:

In all realness thats great to know. I thought they were the only ones that lied and were a bit longer.

I’ll most likely be upgrading this build to these eventually!

I bought my motors/started this build almost 2.5 years ago. Had no idea what I was buying or what I needed. The TB 6355s were the only motors that fit the trucks I was originally going to use.

Then I started hanging out on here and seriously had to readjust my budget! This board was originally going to be a 10s4p with belts on kegels…now it’s 12s4p with six shooters, surfrodz and a bad ass gear drive

Some gear picture porn for everyone. I’ve posted a few of these in the picture thread but condensing them all here.

They will look better in the next batches. - just better surface finishing etc. Nothing 3D printed. Better sealing, lighter drive

When’s the next batch coming out?

Need to sell a few things first because I just spent a good amount on prototypes…

The only thing 3d printed on mine is the actual lid. There is going to be a carbon fiber version of it soon…patiently waiting!!
