Just trying to figure out the math here–what’s the “50” in this equation referring to? You would need 50 layers of .2mm thick nickel as serial connections to support 100A draw?

No, the “50” is the cross-sectional area of the series connection that @JulienB was thinking of using.

I tought of folding the nickel to solve this problem. Do you think it is enough? It is 50mm wide nickel.

Since the series current is flowing long-ways down the nickel, the cross section of that current path is 50mm wide and 0.2mm thick. For a cross-sectional area of 10mm².

thankssss, dumb me wasn’t comprehending I’ve always wondered whether 2 layers of .2mm nickel as serial connections was sufficient over 12awg; I somehow feel like it’s less capable of providing adequate current flow but that’s just my gut feeling

It all depends on the cross-sectional area in the direction of the current-flow
