How to discharge battery

I have a hacked E4

I dunno what that is but if it involves capturing IR images, sweet!

There was a time when FLIR was selling two models with identical hardware–the E4 (80x60) for $1000 and the E8 (320x240) for $3000. Naturally the nerds figured out how to turn on the high res mode on E4. Made me a few bucks.

Useful tool! RIP that pack :frowning: Forgot to remove loop key, didn’t recover.

I agree on this. I use 3S 8Ah Zippy lipo and they lost a bit of capacity because I let them fully charged a long time several times :frowning: And they didn’t puff

This is a really good study about battery degradation, while it can’t be applied to all cells due variations in chemistry, still relevant

Cell used is Panasonic NCR18650PD

This is the part that matter for this discussion, while the capacity fade is bad when left at high state of charge, even worse in the increase in internal resistance, and worse yet if you stored them in a hot location

I need to retink this, its stupidly bright, 6 x 12v 35w, 6000 lumens, cant get see anything

Lol, I just ordered 24 bulbs. It’s gonna be bright!

I discharge through 2 or 3 (or more) 100 W incandescent bulbs. Sure, they are designed for 120 V, but it isn’t going to hurt anything.

Simple ohms law - they are a resistive load that just ends up pulling less current than usual.

Putting a fan and shroud around so i dont blind myself again
