How strong should welds be?

The problem with the 3d-printed holders is that you need equal/even pressure between both electrodes. If they’re both held together in a single assembly, any slight rocking will make the pressure uneven.

It is possible to have some sort of spring preload mechanism to allow some amount of “give” between the two electrodes, but it ends up being a pain.

Just getting the hang of it, and getting your welder upgraded and dialed in will help tremendously.

My whole loop has exactly 1m of AWG8, It’s already bit tight to manipulate electrodes so I don’t think I’ll try to shorten them more. I might try getting more battery power, my current setup calibrates to ~1200A, so not great, not terrible, also I feel like I can still get better welds with more practice. Thank yo very much for all the tips and info, hopefully it will result in a kickass build!

Im also around 45 on .2 and 60-65 on .3 with 2x kcaps in parallel

I agree here. Your welds are too hot, not too cold, so your setup is adequate. Just practice / experiment by changing some variables
