Herbie: My build thread/progress

Have you tried a knife or pliers etc?

If you’re lucky it stays there but keep in mind that there’s always the chance of it breaking off by the vibrations and it bouncing around your enclosure possibly hitting the esc and shorting something.

Yeah, If you can’t get it off you can always just smear some epoxy over it to both insulate it and make sure it doesn’t fall off later. You definitely don’t want stray pieces of solder or metal bouncing around in the enclosure. Besides the failure possibility that they introduce, it can also add a very annoying sound/rattle to your skate.

Damn, Herbie’s looking fine!

Thanks, I appreciate it!

Will do, great idea. I’ll take the enclosure off again tonight and do that. Thanks

Update many many months later! It’s currently the middle of winter here in PA so wayyyy to cold to ride especially with the snow on the ground. But as of the last time I was out the board is doing great! Pictures truly don’t replicate just how great this thing looks in person. It also is a beast on the road! Probably too fast honestly but it is fun to think about ever going like 40mph on a deathstick. Anyways, everything is holding up great, I do have to take it apart a bit and put some more lactate on a few things I didn’t think would need it, but other than that I can’t complain!

You just don’t want it enough. A lot of folks are riding.

When are we gonna get heat vents like they have in cars? I guess that would actually be heated clothing that charges off the board.

Haha maybe so, if I got some rubber wheels maybe, but I think with all the ice on the ground plus thanes would probably result in a broken jaw

Drift mode activated! I got some nice dents from falling on the icy roads.

Just got to be super careful. Lucky for you, being super careful is what many esk8 riders already excel at.

Maybe ill give it a shot, but man half the time I wipe on dry roads. Idk about snow and ice mixed in… but maybe it will result in a softer landing?

Nah if you’re wiping out on dry roads maybe get some more practice before heading out on ice

Cold is one thing; snow and ice is another thing

Maybe wasn’t the best phrasing on my part. About half the time is a bit of an overstatement. But nonetheless it does happen, but usually it’s just on really…really awful roads. Like ones which need to be repaved haha

Completely understand! And yea but usually out here in the winter the two are simultaneous!

Well… definitely not why I wanted to return to the forums, but my 10s3p battery seems to be outputting 16 volts max on the voltameter when hooked up to VESC tool, anybody know what it should be outputting? Im pretty sure I remember around 30 something volts but I could be wrong, anyways could this be limited somewhere in the vesc settings or do you think its something wrong with the battery pack itself?

Lithium ion cells are 4.2V fully charged so your 10s pack should be ~42V fully charged.

I think your battery is :skull:

alright, thanks for the feedback, the builder is on the forum, I don’t believe it to be his fault in any way. Do you think its worth sending it back to him and seeing if he can salvage any of it or is buying a full new battery the only way to go?

Sorry dude, but if that pack is at 16v, that means the cells are at 1.6v and are not safe to bring back up to operating voltage.
Time to dispose of it at a recycling center unfortunately.
Please dont try and charge it, its a big fire hazard if you do.
