GB Remote Lite - Open Source VESC remote

Do you plan on having a CAN forwarding port on the receiver itself? I guess that falls on the “nice to have” side of things, although it would require making a CAN splitter cable for setups without a free CAN port otherwise

i’m very constrained space-wise, can’t afford to add another connector on the board, so I’ll provide a daisy chained cable

working on the receiver, heard some comments about taking control of the aux output on the receiver side:
in the future it will be possible to attach that aux output to something else like throttle or brake…

@georgebenett are you willing to sell just the essential PCB’s for the pro version?
Reason I am asking, I have a handful of Vesc powered e-bikes that I want to equip with wireless display/remotes. (I will make my own enclosure)

@A-damW that’s a very creative way of using my remotes, but I don’t think it would be a good idea since the pcb form factor is not optimized for that, maybe you can use a Davega or something like that?

blue pub vill be very beautiful

These look great! Im excited to try them.

A lot of remotes have issues with the display getting foggy in humid environments. Have you thought about any solutions for this?

He’s using a COTS screen. Id be surprised if it had any issues like that.

Davega has no throttle input right?

I’m looking for an all-in-one wireless solution.

@HippyDeathCult no worries, you won’t have issues with that

@A-damW then you can use my remote anyway. would be fun to customize something for your application if you’re planning to order a interesting amount

I need help from you guys. Which vesc controllers are you guys using?

That would help me designing the CAN connectors for the receiver

Hmm top of my head I: MakerX, Flipsky and VESC Labs are a good starting point.

I run a Dv4s, a few of the orange Focbox’s, and a Stormcore 60d+

The new Stormcore 2.0 will be my next big purchase.

Stormcore 60d+ for me. As a maytech dual trigger user for the last 6 years, it’s been my go to for the form factor and throttle control. No other remote has come close. It is so intuitive and can be used with gloves. From a human factors standpoint, I find it the most ideal. That being said, maytech’s dual trigger remote just sends the last command seen when it loses signal instead of dropping input entirely which is VERY scary when you’re headed towards people in a crowded downtown area.

I am just jumping into this thread after seeing the pictures in the picture thread so I apologize if I’m not up to date on info yet but can you speak to the durability of these? The maytech one is fully potted on the inside and has survived every slam I have had which is truly impressive.

Any ability to wirelessly toggle lights/peripherals?

Thank you for sharing your work!
