Flipsky VX4 remote

 , I’m bored. Penises are way more fun

Relatively minor issue with mine: the battery shifted over in shipping and was getting snagged on the trigger, opened it up and reseated it and looks fine now. I’ll have to look at stronger adhesive or a compressive foam I think

Anyone happen to have a spare uart cable for vesc 4?

I have another receiver, can I use two boards with the same remote?

Yep, just pair with the board you want to use and you’re good to go.
Obviously you’ll need to make sure the gear and wheel settings are right for the board you’re using or your speed and distance will be off.

Oh great! So I only have to change the gear ratio and the wheel size

No way to make the remote work with Maker-X D75… The remote is connected and shows the status of the batteries, but can spin the wheels with the throttle. Changed every parameter on VESC app but I think I’m missing something
Any help will be appreciated

Ah this one can be annoying. Make sure the remote is in the right control mode in the settings and that the tx rx are wired right

Did you get it working?

I’ve searched all over, have yet to see a photo of the inside of a VX4, nor anyone confirming that this indeed uses a potentiometer instead of a hall sensor + magnets. My VX2s all use magnets pressed/glued into a plastic wheel, waved past a hall sensor on the PCB, and the last one has finally failed.

Now that the firmware has been fixed, this remote checks all the boxes for me (PPM + UART for data! finally) save using something else besides a fragile thumbstick pot.

Anyone know for sure whether these use a pot?

Definitely a potentiometer

Definitely a pot haha, you can tell by feel too

ugly

are pots disliked vs hall sensors or? I remember the hoyt puck i tried didn’t feel too bad lol.

I think they’re generally regarded as unreliable.

I kinda agree now that the POT went out on my vx4 a few weeks ago.

I could use some good POT ngl

Meh. Hall sensors have their issues too. Quality of the potentiometer makes a big difference, and in my experience, the hoyt one seems to have much more longevity than the… Two ones I’ve killed in my two vx4 remotes.

Interesting. What was the failure mode in the VX4? Just a failure to read any inputs or a full throttle fail condition? The puck i had failed on the solder joint resulting in full throttle which was… sketchy.

throttle becomes jittery and unstable, kinda like sporadic/unpredictable stick drift on a video game controller
