Flipsky VX4 remote

you need to use current bidirectional
i don’t know why they have current operate differently in uart and ppm, but current bidirectional is the same as current in ppm mode

disable smart reverse if you run this way

Is this supported by original focbox firmware?

Looks like the stock of the remote coming from amazon still only includes one wire option. So it is important to choose the version needed for the VESC you want to pair it with

I know a while back someone else posted about them now just including the vx4 and vx6 wires but I made sure to order the version I needed just to be safe.

Amazon is only $80 though? There is a little box you click when on the listing page to get 5% off

I didn’t have to pay for shipping, and if I wanted the cable for the VESC 6 version I could have ordered it that night and received it the next day.

But also Google doesn’t think your site should be on the first page of results. They even put Aliexpress first :scream: When searching “flpisky vx4 remote”

I was just told they were on Amazon for cheap and ordered it there after double checking the price on the Flipsky site to make sure it was currently being sold for like $60 or some other heavily discounted price I ordered it

Does my site charge shipping for this thing? Whack! Also code diy5 gets you 5% off anything in the store always :zap:

It wasn’t exactly something I researched for very long before ordering. Just saw that it did all the things I require it to do and that it was cheaper than it used to be. I was going to buy a trampa wand off of someone for $80 along with wheel pulleys but they already sold it.

I didn’t know that your site had free shipping though so that is good to know. same for the coupon code

It sucks that you don’t have anything for sale that I currently need though so I can’t throw money at you. Closest thing would be a new battery but the one that is showing its age is still in very good condition and doesn’t need replacing for at least another 6 months if not a year. I want to say I lost 10% capacity over the past year? maybe more maybe less.

I had no idea until today that these were on Amazon

Interested to know if anyone has set this up with ppm+uart and how they have found things compared to Hoyt puck. I managed to get this running but not with smart reverse on makerx d60. My thoughts are it’s not as linear as the puck and stuffed I have patience to get settings curve okay because I have to open board to reach usb port. Works fine so far in other respects except ergonomics. Fine in an ungloved hand but with wrist guards it’s poorly designed also why someone would put buttons where your pinkie finger is :person_facepalming:

If someone has made ideal vesc settings I’d love to know, it seems there is not much throttle the too much at 1/3 point and same with brake.

Can you fine tune your throttle curve in VESC tool to account for the thumb wheel being a bit weird?

I use the following in vesctool
Throttle curve
4% input dead band
+8% throttle expo
-6% brake expo
On the remote I set the sensitivity to 1

Hope that helps.

Compared to the puck they suck . I sold mine to this guy

They just have a real shitty jerky feel accelerating off the dead band. And the short throw makes them even nastier on a fast board.

But I don’t have any of these issues. Mine is smooth and responsive, including yours.
Setup is required they are not plug and play

I think they’re more of a personal preference. The puck doesn’t have the same shitty hardware deadband Ben mentions either.

Maybe if the new vesctool wasn’t so glitchy and I could play with settings on the fly I’d persevere with it more. But I don’t think the short throw and tiny wheel will ever work for me.

Puck has shitty built in ramping/throttle curve instead

Yes that took me ages to work out. Not sure if u remember me complaing to u about my offroad board lacking punch ages ago. Well bumping the throttle expo up 20% fixed that.

Haha I found with the poast case it was pretty good off the bat because the throttle bottoms out on the case and shortens the throw. With the Batwing i had to wind it up a bit because it seemed like it took forever to get going. Either way though feel way more in control of my boards with the puck.

I’m not sure if they’ve changed this for general release but we have a firmware version altered for ApexBoards that removes this. (As well as the speed mode lock option)

Weird, i have not found this to be the case.. the nub touches, but doesn’t seem to shorten the throw in my experience
