Field Weakening

should be enough juice. Motors?

170KV 6374

Also have a Focbox Unity, I cab use whichever one would work better

I thought I’d fully utilize fw by changing to a huge gear ratio for greater torque and also running huge current with field weakening to still have a high top speed (speed went from 25mph to 40mph). Sounded ideal but in practice, due to how torque diminishes with speed in electric motors, the torque is only at a low speed and not in a range that’s really practical.

I’m going back to gearing for like 35mph without fw and bringing the power/torque back to higher speeds.

torque diminishes with speed in an electric motor because theres a back voltage produced by the spinning motor that must be overcome by the battery voltage. As the motor speed goes up that back voltage increases and essentially reduces the voltage that can be applied to the winding and with it a decreasing current that can flow. I can’t get current into the motor for torque at higher speeds

(On a bike so not much danger)

Have you tried overmodulation on 6.06? You should get a little more speed without loosing torque

First I’ve read of it. I’m reading it’s more efficient than not using it.
