Field weakening is awesome- testers needed

Im gonna give it a try, any recommendation on this settings? I run 85% duty current limit start

Check out the floatwheel forums. They have some guys that have played around with settings. off the top of my head, keep the FW Current Max ~ 50% of phase current, so maybe 40a or 50a. For duty start 75% is more conservative I believe, so I’d start there. I also don’t really know, so check those onewheel dude’s forums

I think that’s this, right? Is there a different one?

Set FW start duty way lower. Like 60%. It gradually ramps up as needed.

That looks correct

i run stock settings and 100A FW current, phase current 120A
dropped it down to 75A to stop my hub motor saturating and locking the wheel at 40mph

Did you try it? How did it go?

Saw this mentioned in another thread and wanted to bring it back around to see if anyone else is messing around with FW, what their settings are, any issues and such.

I’ve ran it on the scoot since I got it.
Pretty sure i just turned it on and set to about 30a.
I may have adjusted the what duty cycle it kicks in at.
Its rather simple to set up.
Heat is really the only side effect I’ve noticed.

I’d say if you just want a little headroom and occasional zoom above what your system can do, go for it. If you’re going to be constantly riding in FW territory, it’ll probably be pretty inefficient and produce a good bit extra heat.
If you’re interested, I can break out vesc tool tomorrow and walk you through it.

I don’t ride at the limits of my board, and my motors stay pretty cool (50°~). I’m going to be going down to 7” wheels (from 8”) and would like to get a little bit of that top speed back without giving up the additional torque. I may not ever even “activate” the FW but it’s nice to know I could push it a little if needed/wanted occasionally. Would definitely appreciate a simple walkthrough

For sure, remind me tomorrow on here/tele. Out riding tonight :beers:

Decently easy setup, just don’t set the amps crazy high if your motors are small. I’ve had a friend burn out a motor. Onewheel forum said to set duty start to like 55-65% and amps to 15-20. I’ve run 65% at 20A and I’ve gotten a 5-6mph top speed boost on a board that had some low top speed (25!) due to the low kv motors on 12s.

Been running field weakening on all of my onewheel builds . Been running 40a @50%dc with 600ms timing.
It really depends on what your battery is capable of on how many amps you can run. But a few pepe have actually noticed efficiency gains from using field weakening.

Hey kids.

I went down tire size and don’t want to mess with gearing.

So I want to try FIeld Weakening on the Llama.

12S8P P42A pack
unity.
SKP reachers 153kv.

Where do I start for esk8…???
