Electric mountain board vs urban carver

If you want to hit any woods trails that are unpaved, go top mount mtb.

Beauty certainly favors the street carvers but if I had an undermount enclosure, I’d be very very sad with the riding I like to do.

I honestly wish I would have gone bottom mount on my newest board because I have this board to get nasty in the woods and jump around with, no regerts style.

I use my board to run small grocery runs for my family but don’t really do any another things with it. I commute to school with it and I’m not sure if I’m going to try lugging a board on my atsa pack pack or ask if there is a place I can store it. I was planning on doing this build then building something with 3 links but maybe a carver/emtb doesn’t work well in cap hill? My goals are 30 miles range (at least) 30mph+ pneumatics and I’m gonna use it for commuting, gourd rides, and maybe some light racing so if you think that there is a style of board that would be better let me know!

Ya that’s the thing I’m not sure if I’m gonna be hitting trials and stuff cuz I’m just not sure if there is stuff like that near cap hill

There’s a park that’s kinda set up for but not sure how much of it is accessible to a board. The one wheel community frequent it though.

I don’t think the stars can handle full size channeled boards. The alter maxi does. I have one and have fitted a lacroix and a kaly on it

Just remembered it’s a alter they all have weird names and I get them mixed up. I may need to go with a light weight street board first as it would be better for commuting and then do a power house build but I am having Trouble on deciding what kind of build to invest in first.

If your in the hill we have a light rail(like a tram) that stops all along north and south of Seattle

Just some thoughts…
For commuting or grocery store I wouldn’t use a MTB because it’s big, heavy and bulky, hard to carry and to store.

Try this with mtb

One important thing to mention is safety gear. If you use bindings you gonna fall different and therefore should wear more safety gear like e.g. crash pants, moto x protector vest (with back protector and hard shells) and fullface helmet.

For commuting I prefer an AT board (in my case urban carver) with undermount enclosure and 7" pneumatics without bindings. I can ride almost everywhere from grass, gravel, dirt or whatever if necessary. I commute 20-30 minutes to work in the city and with 7" I never have to get off the board. Even with 125mm urethane many curbs are too big which sucks. The range is not great with 10s4p but I like the slim look.

Lately I prefer the car to commute to work

Comparison pics

Here urban carvers mini vs. normal truck

street carver deck vs. holy pro

The carver deck is quite narrow in comparison to holy pro.

Keep in mind that Trampa decks are flexy.

If I’m not commuting I prefer to ride MTB because it’s much more fun.

Trails are difficult but great to ride

Jumping is epic

I definitely think that off road and stuff is way more fun then urban but if I’m not gonna have the space to do that kind of stuff then there is no point in pouring 2k into one especially if I can build something else with that money. I was gonna do a carver either with 7” or 8” then maybe build something with 3 links for race events or instead of that maybe something for grocery runs. My goal is to have a board for different situations but I don’t have the kind of money to do that quick so it will be a slow process but I think having a carver as a first board is great cuz it can do straight up power, commutes, and some racing. My only question now is do I put bindings on my carver to do hops on tight turns and hoping on and off curbs and just having more control thoughts?

Hmmm it’s up to you. With bindings you have more control but on the other hand are very limited in stance. Of course you need them to jump on/off curbs but then you need a top mount enclosure as well.

Some urban carver boards use the deck hook type bindings which may be enough for what you’re looking for.

You and @Turt_Turt23 should make a trip down to Portland when things get back to normal. Our riding crew continues to grow down here!

How is this possible? Did you mount the bottom crossbar?
A crossbar is required to hold the motor plates parallel to each other.

I wish, the EUC guys have been road tripping down in Fridays. I unfortunately am not in a position to do that right now. New dad

Edit: if things smooth out for that portland 3 day event maybe then. The EUC guys have something planned if you didn’t know. I think in June or something.

Is carve pdx gonna happen this year? I’m partly building this board also to be able to keep up at group rides and such

I got the version with the adjustable bottom crossbar, it’s possible but hard

It will happen so long as it’s aligned with public safety recommendations & the circumstances allow for it.

We are hopeful that things will return to normalish soon enough to make this happen.

When would it be? Like summer time?

I don’t think there’s really a clear idea yet for that yet.
