Only one way to find out lol. Gut feeling is that if the already came loaded with 6.0 they will probably be ok. If they fuck out and they came like that you should at least be able to get warranty. I think the issue is probably created when changing from one firmware version to another by the sound of it. Curious to hear how you go.

I have a 60d+ waiting to be installed and threads like this do not inspire me with confidence!

Yeah I know, it’s a bit off putting. Mine was fine until I did the firmware though, so I’m reluctant to blame it on the hardware. I just purchased a replacement 60D. I considered DV6 as a replacement, but they don’t seem perfect either when it comes to this sort of issue. I’ll probably never touch another one though If I loose the new one and I haven’t dicked with the firmware,

I won’t be updating the firmware for sure

I updated to 6.0 on my 60D+ without any issues and I think @Shadowfax also did too. I have three other Stormcores I will be updating soon. I would definitely reach out to Lacroix. They are usually very responsive.

Ok, that’s good I guess. So confused about it all now though lol… Ive sent Lacroix an email, will see what they have to say.

So I’ve got my new Stormcore and it came loaded with 5.2. The VESC tool won’t let me pair the remote using 5.2 firmware though… Is there any way around this?

Don’t use the wizard. Do it manually.

Also make sure you know what VESC Tool means when it says “pair”: it means lock everyone out if they don’t have the UUID (you did write it down, yes?), but do it in an insecure and hackable manner. Meaning: likely to accidentally lock out the owner, while offering little protection against criminals.

I recommend to never “pair” unless you are specifically worried about a bad actor (with VESC Tool know-how) messing with your ride. And that’s assuming they have light VESC Tool knowledge. If they have advanced knowledge, they can still get in either way.

I ended up installing the new Stormcore last night. I grabbed my balls and installed V6.0. Everything went ok and I took it for a run without issue. Feeling like it’s going to be all good this time around.
