I seem to have a liear voltage mismatch @janpom , like I had spoken to you a month or so ago. it seems to be linear across the board. What are the chances to have in the future a calibration option to calibrate the read voltage on screen. I know Vesc are miserable at measuring correct voltage.

My idea is to measure the pack with a accurate voltmeter/multimeter land use that as a reference for calibration.

You mean having a voltage multiplier coefficient in the settings?

I quickly coded something. Released as v5.06rc4. You will find “voltage multiplier” under misc settings.

@janpom maybe instead of voltage multiplier, maybe offset value

ie: if the pack reads 41.8v and the Davega reads 40.9, you can have an offset of +0.9v. So the offset calibration is numerical instead of percentage ( in case you are requiring percentage offset input ). Its easier to input the offset delta numerically, as opposed to percentage offset + or - x % value.

But that is my opinion. Others may have it differently.

@janpom just tested it. Its good but imo not finegrained enough as percentage voltage for a 1% increase is 0.3 - 0.4v for a 10s. Could you maybe try a numerical instead of a multiplier so it fixes the offset by a given number instead.

Percentage will not yield linear results across voltage ranges, as its a percentage of voltage not a numerical offset of voltage

Did you actually mean to say the mismatch is constant (not linear)? E.g. it’s always off by 0.9V regardless of the battery voltage.

@janpom Yes the voltage offset is linear ( ie constant ). Tried it with different packs at different voltages.

Its a good option, but its would still yield different results at different voltage levels. IMO fixed offset value ( ie. no drift at varying voltages ) would be the ideal way to address this.

Not quite sure why this happens, the drop might be due to 125cm cable from the VESC, but i would be guessing here…

Have there been any comments on this drift from other users? I would imagine its not an isolated case from my side…

It’s digital data. DAVEGA displays whatever VESC thinks the voltage is. The value either is or isn’t retrieved. It can’t be retrieved with a lower accuracy. It’s like with Internet Banking. If your balance shows $10, getting a better Internet connection doesn’t change it to $100. :slight_smile:

Yes, it’s well established that VESC is not the most accurate voltage measuring device known to the mankind.

If it’s off by 0.9V though, that seems a bit of an extreme. Maybe your reference measuring device isn’t well calibrated?

@janpom Sorry I got misunderstood. I thought the voltage measurement was done at the Davega and not that the voltage value was sent from the VESC.

Its not off by 0.9 v, it was just an example. Its off by 0.3. :slight_smile:

Just a heads up, the newer auto detecting voltage JBD bms with built in Bluetooth do not connect to davega. Same compatibility issue with the newer dongles.

Hey Jan, I noticed your pretty quick and knowledgeable about this stuff. How would I go about making the Davega X work with a Daly Smart BMS? I’d prefer that over the LTT BMS, the Daly has a CAN bus.

I would love to use this screen on a scooter, love the size and customizations. The battery would be 14s.

If you really want to change this, you can do that in the VESC firmware and recompile it
