I think it’s called high cycle fatigue. Any one crack or bump is no problem. But if you hit a million cracks or bumps, all of a sudden one of them can break it.

It’s usually not a problem but those cast aluminum truck hangers seem particularly susceptible to this.

With esk8, most failures it seem come in one of three flavors:

• vibrations
• moisture / contamination
• cycle fatigue

Never underestimate how sinister heavy vibrations can be

anything made from aluminum is guaranteed to fail with sufficient use
