So what we looking for is maybe called “Nickel Silver” . It is actually 65% copper 18% nickel 17% zinc…no actual silver in it. It has been used successfully and with dependable welds with a kweld. Now its time to find the source .
Kinda expensive but what did you expect
worth a shot if you got spare cells homie. DO IT FOR SCIENCE. Keep us posted, I’d be interested to see how this works out for you.
That was the wrong link. Correct one was the 20 guage sheet. Its 13.95 on amazon …so thats alittle better than 19.95
I can’t do it for science until I have cash for a kweld. I do have the cells though. It will have to be another member with a kweld.
Are you working with a kweld? 20 gauge would be .8mm, seems like a reasonable thickness for this science project
I want a kweld pretty bad now!!!
I have kweld but i think 0.8mm is a bit of stretch, heck i think 0.4 will be too much for it
Someone do the math:
according to @kevingraehl’s chart:
nickel is about 30% conductivity
copper is about 110% conductivity
Assuming this stuff really is actually 65% copper (unlikely, just sayin)

it’s .8mm thick, which is about half to the thickness of the nickel we use to spot weld (even less if you’re using 2mm)…
Is it really any more conductive than 1.5 or 2mm nickel in the end??
Looks like that copper silver alloy is less conductive than nickel. Guys at es tried it:

Damn, how does that work out?
I think 20 guage was wrong. It was in the 20’s thou. I am reaching out to venon karts to arrange for a meeting as he is in my home town. Awaiting his response
It was 30 guage. That makes more sense
So like .25
Then use thicker copper and slower electro plating dammit
Btw since it’s you, you don’t actually spot weld so you can afford thicker!
still massive, lol. might work, tho…
Btw, plating and alloys are completely different in their physical properties. When you alloy, you change the properties of the metal itself, as opposed to having layers of different metals, each with different properties.
Mine is thick enough but sice i do od job welding and had tried some methods, thought to share.
And for the brittleness thicker does not help. You could anneal and fix it that way…
The bigger first digit the worse conductivity
need to look into that, thanks a lot for the tip👍🏽
