A New Beginning | ‘SoulStorm’ 002 Esk8 Build

Could I still do the 35/25 if it’s a mix of both off-road and street?

I kinda figured it would be, I was gonna use hard maple veneers but could be the same difficulty so I’ll just go 30/25 and add a 5 degree angled riser on the front

For sure. Shoot for the middle and use wedges to finish the handle to your liking

Hey man! I have a pair of unused, still in box 6374s motors, willing to ship. Let me know if you’re interested.

Thanks.

4/4/25: alright so I’m going a different route with this build @rafaelinmissouri offered a good deal so the game plan here is to purchase the parts off him and freshen the deck up with the custom graphic I designed, a new box for the top, could paint the trucks red or slap on a matte black paint job. I’m leaning towards the matte black for the trucks, paint the hubs red and of course fresh griptape, could even customize that too, we’ll see what the options are

The reason why I changed my decision:

It’s a great deal and the parts are better quality then the ones I was originally going for and why not reuse and repurpose, all I need to get is motors, ESC and batteries along with tubes, 12mm bearings and belts which on Amazon is cheap

More updates will be rolling in soon :100:

4/10/25: Just ordered 2 4000mAh 6s Lipo batteries, MakerX Dv4S VESC, I also got the tubes and bearings for the hubs and tires. Still need to get motors, belts and motor pulleys, LLT smart BMS and the box for the enclosure for the top. Very very small parts list which is weird cuz for the first build I had to get a lot but this time I already have the wires, plugs, charge ports, fuses

If any of you guys have 2 8mm long shaft 6374 Flipsky motors for a good price, I’ll gladly do a deal

I’m excited to slap this all together and have another sick build to the lineup, will keep you updated as parts come in

I have a used set of Flipsky 6384 170kv. One motor is good and the other have some can movement,. Both motors had their shaft cut to around 26mm, should still be able to run belts just fine. I’m gonna try to get them fix, if I’m able to before you find a set I’ll just give them to you.

I’ll be getting the motors in 2 weeks when I get paid so if you’re able to fix it beforehand I’ll gladly take them off you. Is it a D shaft or keyway, if you can also send some photos of them too that’ll be awesome

4/17/25: Some big things happened lately

•The batteries and the esk8 bundle from @rafaelinmissouri came in today, VESC is still on the way but will be here soon

———————————————————

Today I didn’t waste no time, I got all the parts laid out, I first took off the enclosure box on top and shortly after the griptape, the bottom had some rubber left on from what I assume was a bottom enclosure looking at the screw holes, later today I’m gonna fill those holes up with wood filler and sand the bottom, prepping it for paint and as well the trucks, there was one wheel nut missing so I’ll have to get that along with some 12mm speed rings and maybe spacers for the hubs, I’m not entirely sure they need them. I did slap on the tires and bearings I got which fit perfectly and they seem to roll fine. I could be wrong on not adding spacers tho, the hard parts done and now it’s time for the fun stuff. More updates coming

Definitely get spacers for your hubs, I’m not sure which hub you got so I can’t tell you the exact dimensions. You’re good as long as the spacers doesn’t jiggle around when the bearings are installed. Spacers are crucial cause when you tighten your axle nut, you apply the pressure onto the spacer instead of sweezing your bearings, which can cause them to blowout while riding.

These axle spacers from @mbs are a good fit on the Tomiboi Hubbas.

I figured I had to, I wasn’t sure, ik for thanes it’s crucial but since I’m new to the mtb stuff I didn’t know the hubs will need the same thing but that’s good to know, I’ll get those spacers

Thanks man, I wasn’t sure if the hubs needed spacers so thanks for sending the link, I’ll get them now

It’s not super critical.
But it’s best to run them.
