Yeah struggling because they’re hub motors, they still can’t compete with the power of belt reduction yet.
true, I don’t know, I’m still undecided in a sense. But you bring up a great point
well if ya’ll say 2wd will not struggle like that, I may just go with 2wd and cut costs…
Go 2wd and use the money you saved on a proper esc, proper wheels, proper trucks and some mbs f5 bindings.
Note that the problem you see in the video isn’t the lack of traction (no wheelspin), but rather the motors bogging down and being unable to supply enough power to keep it accelerating. With proper gearing (especially if you’re keep the top speed down to just 25mph) and no bottlenecks in amperage delivery, you could probably beat the Ecomobl up a hill with just one driven wheel if you wanted to.
I’d save around $230 on a xenith, and $190 on 2 6374s.
My 4wd drive train is coming in at $290 and I’d save about half of that or 1/3.
Total I’d save $710. Hmmm ouch…
The price of 4wd and the ultimate traction power combo. So unnecesarily powerful but yet so necessary somehow. Perhaps I do just want to flex
I’d like to see a video of that
Three words: Unity Super Single
emphasis on “Super”
Dude, just get a 2wd and upgrade later if you feel you’re missing some torque. Don’t cheap out on parts because you will end up paying 2-3 times what a single expensive part would cost, and the expensive parts can last you years, even forever if they’re not in the “consumable” part like motors, belts, tyres, bearings.
Here’s 2wd boards climbing the steepest street in the world like it’s flat ground. Don’t listen to ecomobl and other chinesium fanboys, those boards barely hold together
2wd is hands down better then 4wd for most rides. heavy boards suck ass. 2wd with GOOD parts always beats a shit part 4wd board. if you are doing off road you need a mountainboard with proper trucks. under slung battery’s are awful for even curbs let alone off road, even on 11inch mefo go karts tyres i still scrape the shit outa my deck
If the guy is set on a shitty 4wd let him make the mistake. Sometimes you just need to learn the hard way.
@solice77 you will be jumping up and down in excitement thinking you have the best board ever until part after part fails on you. and the fact is the performance isn’t better in the first place.
Pretty much all of us started out that route and that’s why we are here trying advice you not to. that’s kinda why we are here, because shit breaks down and you need to fixt it or it sucks so bad that you need to upgrade. So it’s not all bad.
But cheap parts isn’t revolutionary and most of us have gone through that stage.
We are not here to help you not the other way around. keep that in mind
Focus on building something reliable and stunning instead. There are plenty of great builds here to take inspiration from. This is a great little community and an awesome place to learn!
here are some examples:

very right
if you look through the top builds nearly none are 4wd tanks
they are virtually all 2wd simple basic and sometimes a single component done clevely but most the time done just to perfection
No for myself, others on this forum and in the internet have had severe head injuries and countless other concussions.
Countless broken bones, face plants and metal pins.
After looking long enough in the 4Sale threads you will notice a pattern called “Leaving ESK8”.
Usually the overzealous like myself or someone with a close call on the streets realizing that they gotten close to the edge.
If you would consider slowing down and pacing yourself and learn to manage the “I WANT” feeling that is in your chest you will notice that this hobby or sport is growing and every month a new Technology advancement occurs
That means you will always be feeling that “I WANT”
in your chest for the latest ESK8 gadget or new Build.
Honor your budget and build with quality or hold out and save more to get the proper quality parts needed to have a good DIY build that’s safe and last long.
Sorry for the book
lmao this thread.
Esk8 experts chiming in and giving you actual good advice and you not listening.
“I’m gonna make the most powerfulest 4x4 board! But I don’t like bindings off road. And I’m going to use generic aliexpress AT drive train kit. And use flipsky vesc4. And add hinges to the deck to get the 30degree angle.”
Just buy a 4x4 exway atlas preorder and be done with it XD
I’d recommend joining a local riding group and actually trying out some boards. You seem like the type of person who would be blown away at the speed and power of a meepo v3. let alone a midrange DIY 2wd…
If you don’t listen, you’ll just be wasting your time and money…
41% is ridiculous. Those boards are hella nice, but hella expensive. If I could afford them. Looking at one of them 66t/14t gearing with 2 6374 160kv motors, not including the battery, comes out to $2000, not including shipping to the US. I don’t know how much shipping is, but with battery it’s $2400.
It’s nice, but for $1500 after tax after shipping I got a 4wd chinesium build, which may or may not last, including a very expensive 12s6p molicel battery of $399 after tax.
So, it’s hard to decide.
It doesn’t have to be a brand new Trampa. You can often save a lot of money and buy a slightly used non E Mountainboard from someone who Never used it and upgrade it. MBS stuff is also good. Have a look at your local EBay or equivalent.
Because you got to carry them around?
Pretty much all of us started out that route and that’s why we are here trying advice you not to.
It is definitely an exercise to go against ones own best judgement. I def. appreciate everyone’s inputs
