My bed is fixed so as not to ruin calibration and it seems to work because I haven’t calibrated in months.
yeah i do fixate mine as well, screws and nuts on my cr 10. pain in the but x10 to make level the bed every year or so when the wheels gets chewed up enough to misalign the bed then I use a little that I adjust the z-stop switch with/ bed height. please don’t mention bl-tough I have paid a good 100 coins for those and they are all in the fuck it bucket.
i do however have removable sheets ontop
Haha, I have clone bl touch but never installed it because never really needed it.
yeah give it to a homeless dog to chew on it. fuckin garbage!
My BL touch clone works perfect? Get rid of the stock ender board and you’ll be happier
Also a “true believer” in bltouch here, the inductive probe on my mk3 works pretty well as well but the bltouch physically contacts the bed so it’s not sensing something it isn’t actually touching. If your print bed is small enough and or machine is rigid enough or prints are small enough then leaving off bed levelling makes sense but otherwise it’s way better than having to tweak the bed adjustment screws regularly.
Why do you suggest getting rid of the ender stock board? Just for the BL touch?
I’ve seen almost zero difference in quality in many Ender 3 stock board upgrade videos.
Working on it. Increasing top layers to 4 helps to mask the artifacts but ultimately I’ve been ironing to avoid the issue. Coasting and smart seam hiding in cura 4.3 has helped a lot with outside seams.
I still get a bit of gap around small hole patterns that I can’t figure out. It may just be the nozzle/line width combos but even ticking fill in small lines and gaps settings doesn’t seem to fix it.

Ironing cleans it up but is only a fix for the time being. Ideally it should be printing like the bottom layer.
I have one request. If you could do a test print the whole thing with flow set to 105%, it would really help cure my what-if obsessiveness.
That’s great!
I tried it at 104% and didn’t see a difference but I have a test file made to print only the top layer at 110%
I will document my struggle here
So weird. Have you tried printing a hollow cube and checking the thickness of a single wall? You are using a 0.6mm nozzle right? And if you are using 1.4 times the nozzle dia, that gives you a wall thickness of 0.6*1.4 = 0.84. If you measure a single wall thickness and find it to be 0.7mm or so, then you have found your problem.
I bet it’s the creawsome mode messing with the flow for wall thickness wider than nozzle dia, because you didn’t have this problem before you upgraded to 4.3. I wonder if you can remove the creawsome mod altogether by copying the ender3 setting file from the old installation to the new one.
So being a logical human, I tried creating the file with my old 4.1 profile and had the same issue appear. I remade the stl file just in case.
I have my line width set to 1.3x diameter but can bump it up. I will make sure wall thickness is set to match.
Do you have a file for the hollow cube I can test with?
Thank you. Unfortunately my wife has 2 of these printing right now so I will have to wait a few hours
@mishrasubhransu is the creawesome mod enabled my default? I thought you had to configure it manually.
yeah, it comes inbuilt.
What version is the new cura? Im on 3.6.0 , I did an update once and it ruined everything so I just went back
Ok. I’m going to first try with the larger line width (1.4 x vs 1.3x).
My wall thickness value didn’t match a multiple of the line width, perhaps that was hurting it as well.
Next thing I’m curious about testing is connect infill lines.
Although technically I’m having a surface issue and not infill. At least I believe that is how cura interprets the top layer.
@moon I was on 4.1 and had no issue. I upgraded to 4.3 and made this file after the switch so it may be the update.
I would say round it to 0.8mm line width. And the wall thickness multiple of that.
yeah I’m on 4.1 and creawesome mod as a base. and im never ever going to upgrade from this, im done with 3d printing fuckery for a few years.
also why I refuse to try out new filament: If I can print in beer or diamonds then maybe
