Trucks with integrated mounts

Hey guys,

So as of now, I have the TB180s, TBv6 mounts, clamps, and FS6364 motors. The clamps for torqueboards do not fit on the trucks as well as I would like. They are held in place by set screws which i fell will dig into the trucks and come loose over time.

Are there any trucks with mounts on them? Kinda like the double kinpin you can get on alibaba but i don’t want those. Any other types?

Aside from the Evolve and clones I don’t think so. Closest you’d get are @akhlut axle mounts.

The set screws should be secure with loctite. Not the preferred method though as you said.

They’re all double kinpin right?

I’m fine with clones tbh

you could always set screw AND JB weld the clamp to the truck. if you want something more permanent.

weld the clamp to the hanger? that will be permanent for sure

The problem is that the clamp is on on angle. I have no idea. It’s a shitty design:

2 of the 3 set screws are on corners, it doesn’t work like you would think

I don’t have a welder…

some mechanic shop have welder, see if possible to get their help with a small fee, but a remainder: once u weld it together, there is no easy way to remove it

That would be a very bad idea. Without proper heat treat after the weld you will almost certainly create inconsistencies in the grain structure (hard and soft spots) which will lead to some kind of failure.

Also that level of heat on dissimilar metals may have adverse effects, steel axle and aluminum hangar.

im merely suggesting idea, good or bad, that’s up for discussion

something that can be done, doesn’t mean it should be done

While I agree with you that it’s not a very elegant design, the friction force you get from torquing the clamp screw (#2 in your CAD image) should be more than enough to react any side loads the motor mount will see in use. You probably don’t need the set screws at all.

You would think. I have their old (V5? V4? who knows) two piece clamp with two giant screws and it never budged since I tightened it the first time, not sure why they switched from that one to this one.

I’d tighten the main bolt and use the setscrew on the curved part, I think that would be a good combo of forces. I think I get what they were going for but I’m not sure if the other two are as necessary.

I’ve got TB CNC trucks with v6 mounts that are jwelded to hell and back, if you’re looking to buy something :man_shrugging:t2:

The trucks are in good condition but the mounts are a bit of an eyesore since I had to widen the screw holes for my old drivetrain.

I’ll message you

I Dont know either. (It’s V4) they said they had a new design coming (2 part clamp) in around 50 days

You might as well tap the holes at that point and get a proper mechanical connection to the hanger.

I’m not so sure if this is what you need or not? but a while ago there was a very explanatory YT video that was posted by Jesus Christ himself ( @Deckoz ) about how to properly tightening TB clamps into TB 218 hangers. If anybody will do the honors and dig the post from the forum’s underworld it could be awesome!
